I'll never understand why some people think pitching a fit to the cashier is going to help anything.
When I do something that causes extra work and takes extra time for the cashier (missing price tag etc.) I will usually do this:
Me: I think I need to add a candy bar to my order, but not sure what I want. What's your favorite?
Cashier tells me their favorite. I say Excellent choice and I grab one of those.
They ring me up and I give them the candy bar and say thanks for handling my issue.
It never fails to get a look of confusion and then a BIG smile.
It's a little thing that goes a long way.
