Hey all... New Ranger ('19 Lariat 5') owner.
Picked it up as a platform to build an "overland" camping & exploration rig for Tahoe Forest, etc. etc. "Overland" in quotes, 'cause I'm not looking to bomb Rubicon or blast Baja.
I'm looking for something I can use in a modular fashion... Just truck and a tent... Four Wheel Camper Project M for more room... Tow something bigger if needed etc... Went this route over something like a Sportsmobile van, etc... as it seem wayyy cheaper and way more flexible.
I did a fair amount of exploring with my canAm Maverick, but kept getting stuck, and almost killing myself rolling down ravines, so I decided a big expensive truck will force me to shill out a little!
This Ranger is what i wish my old F150 was... So much more maneuverable, better sight lines, especially over the hood, perfect power balance, etc.
And I ended up getting a good enough deal on the Mall Rancher (Lariat) 'cause it was a '19 it was worth it.
And let me tell you, if you're on the edge about a Lariat, and you like music.. Holy Crap! That B&O is the BEST factory stereo I've ever had...
Anyhoo, glad to be here... If there's any camping groups you guys are in that operate in Tahoe/NorCal area, let me know!
Heading to Prairie City this weekend to try out all the 4x4 toys in a place where when (not if, but when) I do something stupid, there's folks to help!

. I need to get out the PC one of these days to go over some skills I learned from a Rod Hall class way back in the day.
