Good luck, hope they get the prob sorted. Mine does more than droning. It's more severe vibes at speeds above 55-60 mph with all the other annoyances you mentioned. All while truck was still stock. Had alignments & road force balancing done and inquired about NVH software to isolate the source to several dealerships. They all said they have no such tool or method for diagnosing vibes. It was then I realized they don't care about rectifying the issue. Sometimes the truck does drive butter smooth over 60mph and sometimes it's violently shaking.

Where do you go to find the SSB/TSB for affected axles
Sorry to hear this. Mines is a droning that’s always there but occasionally will make my ears a bit uncomfortable. Here’s the SSB for front axle.

SSM 50656 - 2022 Ranger - 4x4 - Vibration/Boom Noise Above 50 MPH (80 Km/h) - Built On 14-Feb-2022 And Through 22-Mar-2022
Some 2022 Ranger 4x4 vehicles built on 14-Feb-2022 and through 22-Mar-2022 may exhibit a vibration/boom noise above 50 mph (80 km/h) originating from the front of the vehicle. This may be due to an imbalanced front axle assembly. If the tires and drive shaft have been eliminated as the possible cause, inspect the front axle tag and locate the serial number. If the front axle serial number is between (XXXDRK 22041 XXXXX) and (XXXDRK 22075 XXXXX), replace the front axle with service part number KB3Z-3002-C. If not, refer to Workshop Manual, Section 100-04.

Like others said I'd hold off on the suspension if you want the dealerships help.

On a side note. Any info on why the truck was traded in with only 1700 miles? Seems odd to me

I dug into that a bit before I purchased the truck. An older fellow had it for 8 months and put 1700 miles on it. The only time he had it at the dealer was to sell it back. I think had he noticed something wrong with the truck he would have had it in to be looked at but who knows. Dealer told me the guys wife was facing some medical problems so he sold the truck back. He didn’t drive it very much, just around town it seems. He said the guy loved the truck but just ran into some larger medical bills. Take that at face value but I drove the truck for about 45 minutes without any issues. I read through all the service reports and none mention anything out of the ordinary other than an AC service prior to selling it to me. Not sure what that would be. I wouldn’t have noticed the droning anyway since I have to be at a steady speed on flat road going say 57 and during normal driving it doesn’t present itself really since mph are always changing up and down slightly. Any slight acceleration or deceleration and it doesn’t do it. I drove the truck for a few weeks without noticing any of this. I probably only notice this stuff now since I’m in the truck for 2 hours a day and have lots of time to think which is always a dangerous concept for me. ?. The truck shifts fine in normal other than some rough downshifts when it’s cold and the engine lug at 7th gear going 35 up an incline. Sport and tow modes, the downshifting is rough, like the transmission doesn’t understand it’s time to slow down. Much of the normal complaints. The droning almost sounds like wind buffeting the few times it occurred but I now know I can produce it under the circumstances mentioned earlier. I thought it was engine harmonics for a bit but it does it in normal and sports modes. I figured I should at least have the dealer look at those two things before I put on a suspension. If they tell me everything is fine, than I’ll continue on with the suspension and look into tunes. I do want them to check tranny fluid level and possibly reset the TCM and look for any codes for peace of mind. I still need to perform the adaptive driving cycle as well. This is the only truck I have ever planned on doing any modifications to and I do like the truck, just figure for what I paid I may as well be a little picky. Most people probably wouldn’t notice these things with my truck or if they did they wouldn’t think much of them. PSA My personality, unfortunately very similar to my dads is one that where I can notice the smallest of details and pick them apart. I know that about myself. It’s the reason I’ve been relatively successful in my life, but also can make me not always see the good in things. If you need something inspected for issues I’m your man. I got paid to do that for years. ?. I’m guessing my transmission is acting the same exact way many others did on here before they decided to tune their truck.

I was fearful it was a dealer demo. Never buy a dealer demo.

I bought my late year Nov build 2021 that was barely over a year old with 11k miles on it. The sales guy told me it sat in the owners driveway and he didn’t drive it which is why he was selling it. Knew that was total BS. You don’t put those miles on in a year with it sitting in the driveway. I didn’t notice any of the transmission nuances until I had it a week. I’m not worried about it but also am in the same exact seat as the OP. About to do my lift and want it looked at and don’t want it refused do to the lift. I also have crap mileage. Inflating the tires up to 36 cold has helped and I’m gonna give it another tank to see what impact it has. After they get it in to look at it I’m lifting and never looking back. I’ll pick up the ESP since I plan to keep this truck until the wheels fall off. Here in SoCal most guys lift their trucks whether they off road them or not. It would amaze me if a dealer took issue with it. There are dealers who have performance divisions to lift trucks and time them so if I don’t get anywhere with my purchase dealer I’ll try one of them next. This all for peace of mind more than an outright concern of a major problem

Yeah I figured it would be better just to push off the suspension a month or so until I had it at least looked at. Regardless of what the dealer finds I’ll be putting the suspension on after.

I tried today actually but my phone doesn’t pick it up really well, mainly due to wind noise and tire noise. It’s not super loud but you can hear it. Feels more like a waveform. I do think that it very well may be the SSM I posted earlier. That relates to the front axle assembly out of balance which results in vibration and boom noise over 50 mph. Today on the way home is hit just the perfect speed or something and heard what they may consider a booming sound due to the resonance. I called Ford and let them know that this service bulletin may actual include more people (like me) that fall just outside the range of affected front axles in early 22 models. I’ll post an update after dealer visit March 9th.

Hi Shane,

When they bracket serial numbers, this usually means that a change was implemented on line that suppositorIly fixed a problem and the first fix axle was documented by serial number as "good". Not the first time Dana has missed the boat on fixes. Sad as this once fine company is now with a reputation of producing poor quality in sake of the bottom line...

Best,
Phil

Yeah it may very well be the issue. I’m going to mention it to the dealer but will ask that they still do a full look over on my truck. It may be consequential that my axle number is one below the affected range and the problem is something else but nevertheless should still be considered. I definitely don’t want to force them in the wrong direction if this isn’t the issue. I have the same exacts symptoms another member on here had and while Ford is buying his truck back they claimed to have fixed the droning issue by replacing the front axle assembly. Still not tangible evidence but at least it’s something. I’m just hoping the dealer won’t write me off because my serial number doesn’t technically fall within the affected range. The noise is definitely there and apparent but one does have to pay attention to notice it. Anyway after my appointment I’ll update everyone and if this issue is deemed to be an out of balance front axle assembly I’ll update ford corporate as well in the event they would like to widen the serial number range. Thanks for the info Phil.
