Agreed. Airing down is largely unnecessary for "light off roading". I never air down and I never chunked up the ATM like that. 38 psi cold and send it!The autocross crowd calls that "chunking." It's something you might see when applying a lot of lateral G-force to the tread. IMO, airing down might have contributed to it.
I have a good tire shop that has installed a lot of Hankook AT tires. I'm sure they'd tell you they aren't designed for serious off-roading. If you're at the point where you're airing down, you want a more dedicated tire. IMO.

. I was thinking Ford would warranty it being undamaged and low mileage but they don't care about tires.
