the maker of hi point has a damn fine warranty. if your torture test breaks it they may give you a new one free lol.
Now that's a good idea. From what I read, it's a no questions asked warranty so they wouldn't need to know it spent a week in a deep freezer followed by a week sunk in some nasty pond

The comments everywhere on whether to get an FNX Tactical or USP 45 Tactical are friggin' split. Like right down the middle. Any opinions?

Is the USP/Mark 23 love just from kidults who want what Solid Snake had in muh bibeo game or are they actually really nice to have and shoot? I have an Obsidian 45 in my cart too...

FNP is the predecessor? What is it chambered in?

The thing about the USP is I could get a 9. There isn't a 9mm FNX for some reason. I never stacked 45acp and the price is twice 9mm now. But both feel like they are really meant to be 45.

It's in .45. It's a great shooting pistol and it's GIGANTIC.

Have you looked at the FN509 Tactical? Not exactly FNX 9mm, but an option.

It's too close to my Glocks and every other striker fired gun. More interested in getting something different and nicer. Plus primers have dipped and I could always reload the 45.

Everybody needs a drop/felony weapon…
I read somewhere Hi Point 9MM is the most commonly used gun in gang shootings, I assume it's because they are so cheap.

I was digging into the history of "Saturday Night Special" and "Ring of Fire" guns, and what I found surprised me. Many claims were made that these guns, being cheap to purchase, were used in a lot of violence. These claims resulted in the laws that made importing pot metal guns into the US problematic. It turns out the number one type of firearm used in crime during the time the laws went after the SNS (Saturday Night Special), STOLEN, "larger caliber" revolvers were the number one firearm for committing violent crime. If I remember correctly, the NAACP even went after the law, arguing the law blocked poor, law-abiding African Americans in high-crime neighborhoods from having affordable access to a means to defend themselves.

Anecdotally, I found in my LEO career that when we did come across a gun in a felon/gangbangers possession, it was usually a stolen semi-auto. A lot of Glocks, possibly because for a time it was probably the most popular handgun brand sold. People keep them in their cars, their car is broken into, and now there is a Glock pistol out in the wild. Ughhhhh.

I am actually surprised at how well my Hi-Point shoots. The trigger is stiff but breaks and resets nicely. It's also surprisingly accurate.

Would I take it on duty?

HELL NO!

That is my main carry a G43 and I just use a cheap IWB Kydex from ebay. Works great
that's the wife's carry. I have actually been looking for another mag for it, but like everything, they're kinda pricey. I'll probably roll over to the Glock HQ in Smyrna and see what they can do on a couple mags.

My carry is a G30.

Sorry, forgot to add: I got her a Sticky holsters for it. Says MD4 Gen 1 on the outside of it - can't remember the size. It fits that gun well. Fits in my pocket or her purse with that on it.

I’m curious whether or not this will work……but here’s a fun video from shooting in Texas last weekend.
