Hopefully one day I can get to the SHOT Show. And SEMA.
If you're a consumer and not working for a dealer, distributor, OEM manufacturer, or major arms/ammo company.....I really do think you'd get much more out of going to the annual NRA show personally.

Shot Show is exhausting to work, as just expressed, and only really productive for those who work in the industry. 90% of the questions are either for price lists/contracts or some social media influencer wanting to do a cringy interview or video within your booth. You have less than 10% of all people there who are there to only check out cool items as a consumer, and they're typically collecting bags of swag.

NRA show will have nearly identical booths from all of the companies that you want to check out, all the same new items to show off, and typically have personnel on site for questions about the stuff you want to see instead of what order quantity gets them better dealer pricing. What you won't see is almost any of the companies that work behind the scenes and only work with other companies (OEM manufacturers...).

As for the Shot Show Plague.....next year, you need to start pounding Vitamin C in November and work up from 500mg per day to well over 2000-3000mg per day. Ramp up too quick and you'll turn into a goose for a short time tho. Add in Vit D and Zinc as well. Drink tons of water during the show and have a gatorade with iburprofen in your hotel room at all times, especially when you first wake up. There are also IV fluid companies that will come to your room and hook you up to a bag. ;-)

I totally agree on your point that someone could get more out of going to the NRA show. I was a kid in candy land at SHOT, but it's a weird environment when you are talking to, or trying to talk to, people at their booths.

It's mostly an atmosphere of people trying to get business done while showing off their product. I found I probably would have had a better time and better luck getting business done had I attended some of the private events I had been invited to after the show was done each day.

As for shot sickness - Damn!!!!!
I started 2 week ahead knocking down vitamin C & D. I escalated that to the Emergenc-C drinks the week before the show. At the show I was hurting, getting run down, and sore so I was taking ibuprofen as well.

I got off the plane Saturday morning completely wore down, and got a couple of hours sleep and woke up feeling sick.

This morning I took two home covid tests - I think they're positive and I have a test scheduled at Walgreens.

Get over the illness and I'll see if I can swing some time to swing by the booth at NRA in April.

Is that proof that everything that happens in Vegas, doesn't stay in Vegas?
