Well not really Gremlins, but there is "something" rolling around up there and can be consistently heard as the truck moves driving me crazy. It actually took me a bit to locate where the nose was coming from since it always sounded like it was coming from the floor.

Now, knowing that there are air bags up there, I can to be careful. But I believe that if I can get the overhead light in the headliner out, I should be able to get whatever it is. Does anyone know how to take the light out so that I can hunt that sucker down and kill it?

Reminds me of my summer job on the Cadillac assembly (1976) and heard about how disgruntled workers would leave a few lug nuts inside the box frame while the chassis continued down the assembly line...:)

I came across a similar situation with a '79 Lincoln Town Car, some disgruntled worker at Ford's Wixom plant stuck a marble in the cars left rocker panel prior to the panels being welded.
Luck for me, the shop foreman where I worked as a mechanic knew exactly what the problem was, he had run into the same situation with other cars in the past from that very same plant.

Mystery 2: What are they? Well best guess using the Google's is that they are dried Hackberry seeds. But I am not aware of any Hackleberry tress around my property anywhere.

Mystery 3: How they got up there? My guess is a field mouse but not sure how it got up there.

So the search for answers continues....

We bought a new S Class Mercedes way back in 1984 and it developed a rattle that we couldn't find. It went back to the dealership and they couldn't find it either, so they started taking the car apart, piece by piece. They finally found a tube of lip balm in one of the doors. A very expensive project.

UPDATE: Since the initial post, I have cause to mice and found the nest they made in the back seat.

Any of you that have been up under the truck know if any place to begin looking to find where they might be coming in?

I will be more than happy to open this discussion up in the General Discussion forum if this is not a good it here.

Maybe through the vents behind rear seats?

Here is another possibility. There are some holes on the underside of the body. The one pictured is just below the drivers side rear door. I used it to rout my bed lighting wires into the truck and up through the C pillar to the light on the back of the cab. I guess a mouse could follow that same path. Dang critters, they like to chew on the insulation on the engine cover on my Focus. :frown:
