A kill switch to stop drunk drivers sounds like a great idea!!

What happens when you're the designated driver who is taking home the people drinking and that activates the kill switch in the middle of nowhere. Who do you call? How long before you get home?

Do you not see how many different ways this could go badly?

not too difficult to increasing your odds in avoiding Drunk Drivers, Don't go out late at night or early morning and especially on the weekends. Took me years to realize that my Dad was right when he told me nothing good happens after midnight.

So bring back the 18th amendment:question:
Punish everybody for the crimes of a few....
Sorta like the current effort to eliminate 2A along with the rest of the Bill of Rights.
We are citizens ,not chattel property of the state.

I have been a teetotaler since birth and this latest intrusion will still prevent me from EVER buying another new car.
I've been around for nearly a third the life of this country and I can still remember freedom, citizenship, and the rule of law.

You can bet the tyrants will exempt themselves... remember Chappaquiddick

Oh! another point.... the latest generation has seemed to eschew alcohol in favor of other, even more dangerous intoxicants , so this alcohol thing is probably a day late and a dollar short anyway.
At least you can still have one beer without being significantly impaired.

First they came for the drunks...

The UN monitored the poo situation in India and made multiple videos and campaigned to get them to build more toilets and stop crapping in the streets but India refused to do it. Good on them for standing up to the globalists! Maybe I will crap in the street to stand in solidarity!
apparently several places in california are also in on the protest in support of indias right to drop a duke at random. i see someone in power forced the college kids to change the labels from human poop to possible human or animal...

Providing sanitary sewers is a key role of government (which we pay for with our taxes and sewer bills), overreaching big brother isn't.

What? Every policy our wonderful loving government enacts goes totally as planned an there's never an unforeseen unintended consequences. Move along nothing to see here.

And that's why the forced switch to electric cars. You won't be able to drive your old pre electronics car because fossil fuels will be outlawed.
I'm thinking of buying one more new vehicle, I better do it soon. And one more gas furnace and hot water tank before those are banned.
Hoping I can enjoy my old stuff for another 20 yrs before it's all banned.
correct.

I have a new in box Speedqueen washer (the mechanical ones, no electronics) for that very reason. I also have incandescent light bulbs, just in case. I find that LED bulbs in my office while on my computer cause serious eye strain. I start seeing sparkles of all colors after an hour or so. Switched out the LED desk bulbs to incandescent and eye strain disappeared. Only have them in two locations, both office space with dual 32" displays.

I just replaced my gas hot water heater, and have thought about purchasing another and storing it beside the Speed Queen. Boy prices have gone up too! The old hot water heater cost me $225, the new replacement was $1,000. It is the only gas device that I still have on propane. and that is intentional. Nat gas for everything else, but backup propane tech in place in case of institutional failure.

I figure I've got 25 years left, and I don't intend to purchase smart anything that reports to Momma or whoever what I am doing at any given moment.

It is still a (relatively) free country.

I was thinking of buying a gas furnace to stash, maybe I'll keep an eye out for "old stock" gas h2o tanks. This energy star crap has destroyed appliance longevity, unless they are designing the shorter lifespan into them to keep the orders coming. They say 8 to 10 years for a washers life now an they're $1,000 plus. My mom had the same for 25 years but it didn't have 22 cycle choices an it used enough water to actually clean clothes.

Whirlpool engineers target 7 years. And they are the best in the industry at hitting the fail date.

I spoke to some Mennonite friends of mine who recommended the Speed Queen - Model TC5. It was what they used. These particular Mennonites are 1st Gen, parents are Amish. I'm going to keep my old appliances running as long as possible.

I won't open the box until the front loader dies, so I have no idea about reliability, but if past is any indicator of future, I'll be satisfied.

"The TC5 is built to last 25 years, or over 10,000 cycles. That means you could use your Speed Queen machine for 20 hours per day, every day of the year for over two decades before it will wear out."

i got a new maytag washer four years ago. within two years it was already having issues and needing repair. few months back it broke again. the repair guy came out and said i dont wanna rip you off its not worth paying me to fix it. for the cost of what it needs you can go get a new one... nice of him to be honest but sad for the quality of the machine. when i was a kid our washer and dryer were both about ten years older than me and they both worked fine no repairs until the mid 1990s. i think whirlpool maytag and a few other brands are all one owner.
