This interests me as I've had several Dakotas and was very disappointed when MOPAR decided not to continue making them. It looks like they have been watching the other small truck companies and are getting back into the game. Check this video out.

Dear Ram,
Ram 700 = Ford Maverick
Ram 1200 = Ford Ranger
Ram 1500 = F-150
PLEASE offer at least a V-6 option for the Ram 1200. The Tigershark’s measly 200hp is not worthy of the Ram nameplate. And the 1600 lb payload is pointless if it doesn’t have the power to move it.

Respectfully
Real truck owners.

PS-Real trucks have a frame…

I got an idea of who it was being marketed to when one of the taglines in the video was "Most Speakers In Its Class!"

Man that isn’t even right. If that’s what the new Dakota is going to look like then it will definitely be a no from me. This is such a vast departure from what Dakota used to look like…

I’m just….
Sad

Meh.

My 2002 Dakota was garbage. Nothing particularly wrong with it, just completely uninspiring.

Might as well buy a Toyota or Nissan. If I want an appliance I know where my wife is

I had a 2005 quadcab 4.7 Laramie 4x4 and it was one of the best trucks have owned. I could load it to the axel with gravel, pull the 18' boat, pull people out in the winter (due to the limited slip diff) and rode great. I put 130K miles on it. Mileage was about the same as my Tremor but I always felt it was the true Mid size truck, everything else was a small truck, including today's offerings. I have been waiting to see they come up with.

I just hope all the new mid size offerings on the way, or rumored to be on the way, inspires someone at Ford to go all in on the Ranger. Ford is too in-love with the F150, and the supercrew concept, to really push the envelope with the ranger, in my opinion.

My 2021 Ranger Tremor is a bigger vehicle in every measure compared to the 2001 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 I still had when I got the Ranger.

The Dakota had the 4.7 v8 but the Ranger is faster. While I have never had a tank of gas with less than 20 mpg with the Ranger the Dakota never had one over 20 mpg.

The Ranger is better in every way compared to the Dakota which is to be expected with a 20 year age difference.

The 2001 was my third Dakota; 89 had 256,000 miles when I moved on, the 99 had 210,000 when I moved on and the 2001 had 130,000 when I decided I wanted a new truck and traded the Mustang. If Dodge/Ram was still offering the Dakota I can't imagine I would have given the Ranger a second look.
