Took wayyy longer than i expected due to a lack of tools, and a few hiccups with my bumper(Around 4 hours for everything including some research and looking and borrowing some tools). Anyway I got my wheels on and removed the front crash bars. I can turn my wheel about 1.25 turns from flat before i rub the rear crashbars unfortunately. Ill get around to removing them tomorrow hopefully because i have a roadtrip for christmas, and i want to be able to do a easy U-Turn if need be. Not exactly sure the specifications of my rims because they were from marketplace but in the ballpark of 18x9 - 0 offset. Ill update this post tomorrow with the hubcaps and a better pic. Im more than happy with how the wheels turned out, the steelies and stock +55 offset has always been my least favorite part of the truck, so its only getting better from here. This community is great, I hope you enjoy the build :)

Lots of folks remove the crash bars, but after watching a few crash test videos it’s clear why they are there. Just food for thought.

Careful with the crash bars. They are there for a reason(and to be removed is not that reason). If you insist on removing them because you feel those wheels are more important than do yourself a favor and at least get some "high clearance" crash bars as they will at least help in the incident that you get into a front end collision. What those crash bars do is help keep the wheel and tire from coming up into the passenger compartment when you get into a front end collision. If they are not there you will have a high chance of getting heavily injured.

Damm....I should've died 20 times from having deleted my crash bars 100K miles ago...and to make it worse, my wheels should've fallen off my wheel spacers!!!?

No amount of crash bar's gonna save me from the open box of scissors I have on the back seat...better to have high situational awareness, anticipation and quick reaction...

Glad to hear!
I think mine rubbed so bad was due to my offset. I believe it's around 0 so it stuck out into the crash bars quite a lot. I removed front and rear for now so I can drive around town without doing 3 point turns everywhere, but in a while I'll probably get some aftermarket bars for some peace of mind. Do you have any more pics of your build?

It has a Rough Country Lift but I dont even know how much, maybe I should have asked more questions when I bought it, I got it from a guy that worked for a dealership in MD, I made a cash offer and had a bank draft cut, I loved the way it drove, I dont think we even talked 15 min.
I dont even know if they Moded anything on the engine LOL

Isn't there some play in the crash bars? Sometimes you can loosen the bolts and push them away from the tire an retighten them an get a little extra clearance.

Lmao its all good most likely just a 2.5 level kit like the one i have on my truck. Great looking truck, if you have any questions most engine mods on these trucks can be seen in the engine bay so feel free to post more pics.

No play atall. :/ I did a tad bit of trimming on the thin metal behind the inner fender walls, it wasnt pretty on the first side, but on the second it turned out great. Even if there was play in the crash bars my wheels were getting stuck so bad i dont believe it wouldve helped much.

I was following @Msfitoy 's walkthrough but when it came to moving the fender i had no luck with getting the bars out. Everything went back together neatly... except for some plasic push pin casualties but i made it work.

My bronco with 32's has the crash bars, my daughters with 35's does not. I plan on running 33's when these tires wear out an from what I'm reading I don't have to remove them. I like those wheels an put them on the list for if I change wheels. I'm looking for a used set of the sasquatch wheels since they have different offset too. I think they have 25 or 30mm vs the 55 stock. Not sure I'd want zero since that might push the tires outside the fender lip an I don't want my paint all chipped up.

All my research points to stock rims (I believe 55 offset or 30) with 285s does not require removal of crash bars. With 0 offset there was no other option, I couldn't get into my driveway without rubbing like crazy. I got the fronts off first but then I realized the rears were just as much of a problem. I knew I'd have to deal with the rubbing because I love the look of an aggressive poke. Feel free to send pictures of the broncos too, I love the look of those!

….and hope everyone else on the road does the same. It can never happen to us, right? :fingerscrossed:
