Been creeping on here for a while now, everyday i was getting excited about getting myself a Ranger (HPR or Lightning Blue) but now i've decided against it and decided to be a "grown up" and stop renting a get myself a house. The 40-50K i would spend on the ranger would be better place in getting a house since my car is still in great condition.

While this is technically an easy decision it's tough since i do see new rangers been driven out here. I'm in oilfield country (Midland/Odessa) area and because of that trucks are popular around here (especially Fords with the company trucks...and yup tacomas and 4runners are prominent here) and so far I've seen 1 blue, 1 black, and 2 hpr's, and 1 white Ranger here. While i have a good job in the industry i'll see if theres a part time job i can pick up to help pay off the house quicker and by extension get me to the Ranger quicker!....i'll admit picking a starter home is tougher than picking a Ranger!

...I'm still going to be here living through you guys lol

Good decision man. Owning a house is so satisfying over renting.

While it is difficult to not get the Ranger, I think you made a good choice. Owning a house is SO much better than renting, but finding the right house is a job in and of itself.

Maybe when the redesign comes out in a few years you can get one then.

Very, very smart and commendable decision! Hopefully you will be able to find a house that has a garage for your 2023 (?) Ranger. :like:

Smart move. When you’re ready to buy one, there will likely be more aftermarket accessories to buy and maybe even a choice of engines!

So it comes full circle. After you buy a house, you’ll need a truck to haul all the furniture and home improvement supplies to turn the house into your home. That’s what I use my Ranger for. I see a Ranger in your future and with your level headed thinking, I also see your future being bright.

Hi Red,

Kudos! You made a good decision! Last I looked, rent receipts were going for about $3 a ton.

this is going to suck so much. i don't have a truck so i'll have to ask friends for help not to mention i love home and yard maintenance and i can already see myself wanting to fix up the house. just gotta find that evening job and it won't be in the food industry! i did that as a kid and won't go back to smelling like food:LOL:

Good decision. It's pretty much what I did except the Ranger wasn't out back then. I passed on getting a new 2nd gen Tacoma to get my house.....now I am well established in my house & have a Ranger.
By the time you are ready to get a truck they will all be re-designed & you will have more choices....

Perfect! Now pay off the house in 15 years. Thats like a $$$$ tax free raise when you stop making house payments.

You might consider getting a used 2006-2011 Ranger for the interim, if that will fit within your budget. I started out with a 1984 S-10 in '88 and ended up replacing that with the '92 Ranger (aka Ranger #1) in late '91.

Also, what @SubVet said.
