I have an 8 ton bottle jack and jack stands I use at home and can take the jack on trips, I really liked that hybrid hi lift jack (Grey one) for offroad as well. My question / thought is has anyone found a small bottle jack that will store in the cab to replace the scissor jack? I realize they may not lift as high as my big bottle but it's safer and faster on road trips. As long as I can store it most likely behind the rear seat and it doesn't rattle and I can carry a block for stability and extra height.

Mike I just bought a bottle jack to keep with me in my recovery bag. I found these extensions where you can add them to a 6 ton jack to give you extra height. They also make them for 12 ton jacks. You can get 3" and 6" extensors and jack pads to give you a larger safer surface. You do have to buy one of their extension screw collars that fit over the threaded screws.

In my daily drivers I only carry the factory jack, but I always add a 24 inch breaker bar and quality socket to the kit. The factory lug wrench is there for a jack handle.

For road tripping, I bring a tonne of redundant gear and back-ups. I do allot of very remote, solo, off-road, back country tripping, and need to as self-recoverable as is possible.

My jack kit has:
-F350 scissor jack

-4 tonne bottle jack with rotating action, not reciprocating lever. It is great for getting deep under the vehicle where you can't reach with your hand, and no room to maneuver a reciprocation handle. Also it uses the same extension bars as my scissor jacks.

-60 inch Highlift Extreme and wheel lift kit

- 6 jack plates cut from a proper 2x12 maple plank. (2 @ 10 inch, 2 @ 18 inch, 2 @ 30 inch, and 4 ARB TRED PRO boards @ 48 inches) when stack add 16 inches of lift base, and can span a 36 inch gap).

The exhaust jack is a neat piece of kit too. Works great on sand, and is very stable. I don't plan on adding one to my kit, but if I were on beaches or dunes I would have one.

Thanks Brother! Book marked!

On a lighter note I just left the BMV, got the new gold star Id and went ahead and renewed my plates for the Ranger, I won't spoil the surprise of what I ordered... ??
