I turned these on for the first time last week for fun. to see what the trans was doing. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to turn them off during my 3hr trip. Now ever since doing that.....the gear numbers (in right screen) come and go randomly. I can drive for 15 mintue to the store...nothing. Next day same trip they are there. Go figure.
The + button is easily hit if you hold onto the shifter so maybe that's what's happening? Either that or it's possessed!

I think it's possessed! I opened Pandora's Box! :) It's not my hand resting and hitting the button, I know that much. It's habit not to rest my hand on any shifter from years of driving manuals.

I have had my truck for just over a year now and I have never enabled the gear select/lockout or manual shift in sport previously. This "appear and disappear" gear display, started happening when I enabled it for the first time last week by hitting the minus in D and is now random. I did peruse the manual and I didn't see anything that specifies a method to turn it off under the Transmission section. Only states if you are manual shifting in Sport, move the selector to D to return to auto shift. But there isn't anything in there about the "gear display"

That's strange it just started happening, it's definitely possessed. lol Mine's been consistent clearing out every time I shut the truck off. I just went down the UPS to grab a package and was in/out within 10 minutes and when I got back in my gears were cleared out and had to hit the + button again to see them. Not a big deal as it's part of my routine now but I just find it odd it doesn't default on or have the option in the settings.

Could be worse right  I like seeing what gear the truck is in! Just found the randomness of the display odd.

I know...first world problems. lol :giggle: The transmission shifts so smooth it's hard to tell sometimes if/when it shifts.

I really don't understand why they didn't have them permanently on the gauge cluster? At least have the option to turn them on/off in the setting like some of the other features.
My guess is concern they would be a potential driver distraction.

I think that if it was on all the time it might be easier for someone to accidentally lock out gears. Only thing close to logical I can think of.

But I would love for mine to display at all times.

Mines possessed now!

Now my gears are showing up without me having to hit the + button. I was out this morning and after stopping at the store and getting back in the gears are now showing up. First time I was inside for about 10 minutes but the second on was a good 45 minutes. I had to hit the button when I first got in this morning but I'll see what happens when I go back out this afternoon since it's been sitting for several hours now.
