Believe it. There may be a limit somewhere I guess but it will definitely redline.
The engine redlining is not an issue. Redline is the maximum safe rpm that Ford has set. The 2.3 Ecoboost has a rev limiter that prevents you from going past that limit when accelerating. I would run up against the rev limiter on occasion with my Ecoboost Mustang. I even raised it to 7200 rpm when trying to get the best 0 to 60 time. The 3.55 gears I had would require a shift to 3rd where the 3.31 gear cars could reach 60 at the top of second gear which resulted in better 0 to 60 times.

The protection I am talking about is in the transmission programming that prevents a down shift that will mechanically force the rpm past redline.
