Can anyone tell me what the ride quality is like compared to a standard 4x4? And is there a difference in ride height? I’m trying to decide if I want this option or not.

The ride quality of my FX4 Ranger was pretty good it's nice and smooth. No change in ride height but you get front shield plate with one covering the gas tank and transfer case.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I’m going to go with it.

Any idea how much weight the shield plates add since that comes off the payload?

The ride quality of my lariat fx4 is as smooth as the non fx4, when I test drove one, at the dealer. I think the fx4 has 2 inches more than a regular 4x4 trim. It’s a tall truck, but not hard to get in or out of! There is a little roll when making sharp turns or going over speed bumps, nothing to outrageous though!

Thanks Patrick. I've looked everywhere and can’t find a spec for height on FX4 vs non.

Drove the FX4 today. Ride was fairly stiff almost like too much air in the tires. It was smooth but you can tell it’s a pickup.

Vehicles always ship with over-aired tires however on a couple of the dealer reviews, when they cycled through the menus and came across the TPMS section they were in the 40's. The doorjamb sticker I saw said 30 PSI all around. The dealers probably aren't airing down to spec...

I thought of that but I couldn’t find the screen for it.

Does the TPMS system report each tire position's pressure on a dash screen, or the problem tire position? One of the pet peeves on our Escape is that if the low tire pressure indicator lights up, you still don't know which tire is suspect. Maybe the engineers wanted all tires checked and figured that three would not be if they identified the specific one.

It displays all 4 tire pressures.
