I think what you get will be greatly impacted by where you drive and how you drive (everyone's definition of driving like a grandpa is different.. ;)).

Around town, in my non-Tremor XLT FX4, I get about 21 MPG if I am driving super easy and paying attention. I would expect to lose about 2 MPG for the same driving if I was driving a Tremor with the bigger tires.

On the freeway, I average about 24.5 (pretty hilly where I drive, even on the freeway), but only if I drive under 70 (like 65MPG cruise control). If I am driving at 80, it drops down to under 22MPG.
Similar experience here. I have a non-Tremor 4x4. If I'm just commuting (short, hilly, and poorly-timed stop lights), I get 18. Running errands around town, I get 20-21. Typical highway driving (65-70 mph), I'll get around 24 mpg. This past week I had a longer highway drive and wasn't in a hurry, so I went no faster than 60 and spent a lot of the trip going 55 purely to see what kind of fuel economy the truck was capable of, and was flirting with 30 mpg.

Another factor in the swings around what people report is the fuel computer milage versus actual hand calculated. Most onboard computers in the Ranger I think come calibrated such that they overstate the actual mileage.

When I did my first fill-up I was showing really great mileage. When I hand calculated the number, I lost a couple of MPG.

I am in the process of calibrating my onboard computer right now. Hopefully in the next few tank fulls what the pump says I am getting and the computer says I am getting will be the same (the numbers I posted above are all hand calculated).

The very first thing I did when I got my Tremor last August was starting tracking mileage on the trip computer and hand calculate. After about 7 thanks I averaged my trip readings and hand calculations and adjusted the trip computer offset. Now the trip computer readings are +/- about 2/10s of and mpg from hand calculations. I think at this point the variation is actually not consistently filling the tank.

FWIW, I did this on my two previous Mustangs and Focus ST and got the same level of accuracy.

I got the procedure from a post Dave did for me. I am down to s couple tenths variation right now. I suspect that may be as close as I get, but I keep fiddling patiently.

If you are at a couple of 10ths any more adjusting is just chasing your tail.

You need to keep in mind that it is impossible to consistently filling your tank to the same level unless you keep clicking the nozzle until gas dribbles out the filler. The pump, the nozzle and the angle the nozzle sits in the filler all impact how much gas you put in the tank on a fill.

For Example; you fill your tank and drive 200 miles then go in for a fill and it tanks 10.0 gallons meaning you are getting 20.0 mpg.
You drive another 200 miles and go in for a fill and the pump kicks off a little early and it only takes 9.8 gallons, this time the hand calculation nets you 20.4 mpg. You drive another 200 miles and go in for a fill and this pump shuts off late so you have pumped 10.3 gallons or 19.4 mpg.

All this time the trip computer has been tracking fuel injector duty cycle and has been reporting 20.0 mpg. The variation you have seen is not the trip computer but inconsistencies in filling the tank. I have seen as much as a gallon difference between the first time the pump kicks off and the second time which can make for a very significant variation from fill to fill with a hand calculations.

I don't have a tremor, but on 2020 Lariat with a bit over 8k miles I am now getting about 23-24, up from 20 when it was new. I drive sort of average, punch it sometimes, other times go easy. And that mileage is probably 75/25 hwy to city.

I get what you are saying. So far I have been filling at Costco, using the same pump station and using the first click off and the same (slow) notch on the hold open, so I have cut the variables down, but I am prepared to concede a couple of tenths might be as good as it gets.

Not that it matters all that much anyway, as I use the Fuelly App (thanks again to Dave), so it gets calculated automatically anyway.

This is all just to try and get to know the real world numbers I can expect. After all that getting to know the truck is done, I likely will never look at it again, because, in the end, it is what it is and a whole lot better than my last truck. :)

I've got 16,000 on my 21 Tremor. I keep tires at 39psi once they're at temp. My normal drive is 18 miles through country at 60mph with only two stops. I get around 20mpg. On my recent overlanding trip I was able to get up to 22mpg while doing the crawling/mountain roads. Coming home from SD at 80mph I got 17-18mpg.

This is why I attempt to use the TFL way to fill up my tank.
Fill up tank until pump stops
Wait 30 seconds
Fill up tank until it stops again

I’m up to 23.7 with 14,900 Miles but….. I’m driving gently, I use premium, I keep my tires at 39 psi, I have a bed cover (trifold “Ford” ) and live where there are few traffic lights. Most driving is 45-60 mph but I got the 23.7 with some 70 mph cruise control driving. it’s real I checked numbers (miles divided by gallons to fill) and it’s what I’m getting consistently in summer. Got about 2 mpg less last winter. Can get pretty thirsty with hard driving off road on sand but what do you expect? You can get eco or boost but not both! It’s the best option in mid size pickups right now IMO. I had a 2012 tacoma (great truck) and a 2016 T4R. Ranger seats are best for me and ranger is more fun to drive than T4R (20.9mpg on 4Runner driving much less quickly than Ranger at 23.7). The 4 liter Taco I had ( I’d never buy that 3.5 yuck Atkinson) was fun but basically 21mpg.

I have about 1,800 miles on mine. I haven't yet taken it on a road trip. With mixed driving it says it's getting 18 - 19 mpg. When I do the math, the truck is reporting about 1 mpg higher than actual. So I'm not even getting the EPA rating yet but I do have a tendency to put my foot in it.

Oops- just filled up today and realized I posted wrong mpg the other day, should have said I’m getting 24.7 mpg this summer (accelerating gently but swiftly, I try to avoid unnecessary braking, too). Ticked up to 24.8 mpg today on my Tremor.

'21 Lariat Tremor. I struggle to maintain 17mpg, 16 mostly. As light as I can be on the throttle, premium fuel. Thinking of having it checked out, but I don't think anything is wrong. Portland OR is a fairly hilly region and the moment you dip your toe, it really sucks fuel.

I do seem to get about 24-25mpg on the highway. I knew what I was getting into, but I could use that 19+mpg.
