As I was informed the other day by someone here on the forum, the following is True:

Note: your 265/70R17s are right at the limit of what Ford wants, except via ProCal

The Hard Ceiling: The Ford PCM module throws a "value out of range" error and a persistent U0422 DTC (Invalid Data Received from BCM) if you try to enter a rolling circumference parameter higher than roughly 2450mm to 2500mm (depending on your specific model's trim strategy).

What I learned after that (as I have the FPT) and have 275/55R20s on the Ranger but did not have issues when I set the RPM after the summer tires were put on:

The Custom Calibration Write: Using the official Ford Performance Calibration Tool (ProCal) associated with the Ford Performance Tune. Unlike FORScan, the ProCal utility allows you to type in custom revolutions per mile that directly scale past the standard BCM cutoff.

Just tried entering the 0987 into the 726-12-01 line and still getting U0422 error.

Thing is truck is driving fine, speedometer is dialed, no CEL.

Mine has been like that for the 2 years I've had the 285/70/17's I personally wouldn't worry about it a it sets no check engine lights.
