Ford Ranger XTR Package - What the what?

Well, I saw this today…

Yep, that’s what it says…..XTR.

I‘ve seen XTR package decals on plenty of F150 trucks over the years but today, I saw the same bedside decals on a Shadow Black Ranger XLT SuperCrew. I was stumped and checked with Dave to see if he’d heard of it. He hadn’t, nor had he heard of that package for an F150. We figured it might be a Canuklehead thing.

I consulted Google when I got back to the cottage. It turns out the XTR package is a chrome appearance package for the Canadian market that includes some shiny bits, including chrome tow hooks. On the F150, there are a few other goodies but for the Ranger, it’s really just a chrome appearance package for the XLT.

I hear these guys just love it.

Very interesting! My first guess would have been somebody ordered the wrong sticker intentionally/unintentionally but I see a few more expired Canadian listings for XTR Rangers and you're spot on - they all have Chrome front bumper, tow hooks, grille surround, chrome trim around the model designation "fake intake" near the front door, chrome trim on the side steps (absent in your photo,) chrome door handles, tailgate handle, wheels, and rear bumper.

That's the Ranger 'Xtra version. You get an extra transmission when you buy it because they know the first one will go....

Yeah, I’ve seen some custom decals on Rangers and that makes perfect sense but because I’ve seen those decals before, my first thought was that someone used decals from an F150.

At first, Dave thought the tow hooks might be painted silver to look chrome but after rubbing some of the grime off, bling, bling.
