It has hard shifts on cold starts, (this does lessen when I remote start for a couple minutes) 2nd to 3rd gear seems to seek or stall for awhile, and recently I was in first in a parking lot and I stopped suddenly, and tried to go to reverse, and it had an error message about the transmission.
I assume it will eventually need the CDF drum or whatever.
But I have that gold plan, so I am just letting it role
Same with cold starts. Maybe a handful of times with a hard gear shift but never any reverse issues or error messages for me.

Yeah that happened once, and it didnt make a grinding sound or anything, just errored, so it was probably the solenoid not aligning.
I say 50% because generally I would think this has to be it, with all the symptoms I read here matching, but I also know I am the type of guy that used to look up sounds on the rental I had. Now I just stress about what I can. I drive around 2500 miles a year, it might be awhile before its go time.

Plus if I put the truck in sport mode most of the issues seems to go away, so I might just be over reacting.

Also I left my 24 honda pilot, which also has a bad transmission, starting to feel like all autos are cursed away.

Out of curiosity what was the Pilot doing? We have a '23 Pilot AWD Touring but it has been solid. Just hate the nanny features and that it gets the same MPG as our lifted '16 Pilot AWD. Sometimes I wish we never traded that one in.

For what its worth, I have had random hard downshifts, usually when coming to a stop sign and it goes into first. I only drive in tow/haul mode or sport mode, but it doesn't do it in regular drive. The trans temps are usually under 150F if it even does it, most often under 120F. Been that way for some years now, probably first complained at 20k miles and they couldn't duplicate it, now has 70k miles and it hasn't gotten worse.

Did a 35k fluid change on the trans, going to be doing it soon now that it has 70k. I just hope if I do end up with a trans, it happens while I still have my extended warranty. Truck will be paid off soon and don't plan on getting a new vehicle.

Still put the Ford tune on it last year though, wish the truck came that way, it makes it feel like it should have from the factory.
