It's only 8294 lbs. It'll be fine. I've done worse.

You do you buddy, but 'I used to be a trucker' doesn't negate the laws of physics.

Stay the hell away from me on the highway.

And it is 8294 pounds before you put a scrap of anything in it. I'm sure your wife wants to get to the site and have ohh I dunno.. Clothes? Something to cook with? Bedding?

We're towing it empty and then parking it there and living in. We don't want to pack so we're just gonna wait until we get there and park it before putting stuff in it.

I used to have an F150 and a 6900 lbs trailer I only moved it when it was empty.

I used to own a '96 Ranger Splash edition and I towed 10,000 lbs with it, with no problems.

As long as you don't drive like a moron, any truck can tow significantly higher than it's rating.

They put the rating on the truck because most post are fricken stupid and they want to drive with a trailer the same way as they do without it.
