Does anyone have one of these in any of there vehicles by chance?
VNL3Z-19G490-D
It doesn't have to be in a Ranger, just the camera. I am getting a set up for my stepsons new Escape for Christmas.

https://www.levittownfordparts.com/sku/vnl3z-19g490-d.html

Wanted a plug and play if possible with front and rear cameras (not the backseat camera for Uber drivers but the one that's on the back glass)

I don't have to have 4K, this just comes with both cameras although it looks like a more labor intensive install.

I am planning on getting one some time next year but haven't pulled the trigger yet?? There are lots of options for cameras these days. Please let us know how it installs and works?

Thanks,

Mike, I had the Thinkware U1000 dual camera in my '19 Ranger. It was a great dash camera and the pictures were great. Unfortunately the camera died about a month out of warranty. Most likely from the AZ heat but at the time it was rated as one of the highest for temps. There's so many good dash cams out there now and Vortex Radar has a bunch of good videos on all different cameras and radar detectors.

That's a very nice camera and they're easier to install than I imagined. I only have an XL so I couldn't use a Dongar mirror tap (I did on Kate's Mazda). The Dongar is the way to go, if you can.

The rear cam will require feeding the cord into the headliner, but that was pretty easy as well.

For mine, I did a fuse tap for power and while that's more involved than a Dongar adapter, it was pretty easy.

Here's my install so you can see the wiring and headliner:

trickiest part for my SCAB was the little locking loop (bale) in the roof, plus mine had a 19 foot (no kidding) cord to go from the front cam to the rear facing one - I shoved it all into the headliner

Thanks Sub I will give your build a look. I also had a top 5 dash cam comparison video pop up in YouTube feed, the first 4 all look good, the last one was a bas Garmin, cloud based (monthly fee?) And only the front camera, the Amazon page for it steps up in price but I didn't see a rear window camera, it is however a 1080p cam that's really small and unnoticeable. I am watching them all on Amazon for black Friday sales.

When you mentioned the Dongar adapter, I am not sure if his Escape has that capability, it's an Active model but tbe dealer ordered it with alot of extra features. It's got a 360 camera set up but it isn't a dash cam, more of spacial awareness thing.

I found him an older Malibu for his senior year in HS, we took care of it but.it was showing it's teeth often. He made it thru 4 years at Purdue and graduated and is in the middle of his 1st semester of Med school, my hope was keep that Malibu going until he got out of Med school but last month the timing belt flew apart and it was a domino effect of other internal parts got trashed. The repair cost est was $3k, alot more than the cars worth. I wanted to get my Ranger paid off then save some $ to get him a new car then but that got moved up. He had a chunk of $ to put down plus Ford gave him $1500 trade in allowance on the Malibu and they even sent a wrecker across town to bring it in, so we co signed for him.

Thanks,
I found 4 others of similar quality on Amazon that have rear cams, one even has the cabin cam as well so I'm watching the black Friday sales. I reached out to Benny @levitownfordparts to see about a price plus if he knows anything about them. Some dealers install them but I'm not sure if you have to buy the cam from them. I will post a link below to the YouTube comparisons. Wondering if I give Benny the vin if he can tell if it has the Dongar adapter capability?

Just goes over features of different brands with very similar functionality.

While I do not have that particular model, I have the Thinkware F200 Pro w/ rear camera, installed by the dealer when new.

It’s been nothing but trouble. I’ve had issues downloading the files. Sometimes it records, sometimes it doesn’t. I believe it’s heat related and/or the OBDII interface. Warranty claim process was a pain.

If I had it all to do over again, and when I squeeze the last bit of life out of the one I have, I believe I’m going to go with two of the most basic Garmin has to offer and wire them up as simply as possible.

I have the Thinkware U1000 dual camera and its a great option for that added security in the event of an emergency or an event. I haven't had to look at it in a while but its invaluable when needed!!

This is the one that I have in my 2023 Ranger and it does a great job also do not buy from Ford because they jack the price up so much plus this is a new model of thinkware and it only took me a hour to install it myself and that is not bad for a guy that is 70 years old.

Amazon.com: 2024 New THINKWARE ARC Dash Cam with Smart Driving Alert System, 3X Energy Saving, 1440P+1440P Front and Rear, Wi-Fi, Super Night Vision, 24/7 Parking Mode (Free 32GB Card, Hardwiring, 12V Cable, GPS) : Electronics
