Not a good comparison, turbine running %110 all the time . Try that with an internal combustion engine. Torque gets you off the line and horsepower get you through the lights.Your credentials or did you stay at a holiday in last night?

So when I was a lad I had a go cart with a 7 hp @ 3600 rpm briggs 4 cycle. My buddy had a mcculloch 101 2 cycle that had 12.5 hp at like 8 or 9 k rpms...he could run 60 on flat ground and me about 30. We had many races and anytime there was straights and broader turns involved he beat me like a drum..BUT, introduce an incline and tight turns and short straight and I owned him lol...It would take his cart forever to start rolling so if we had to slow or had or tight turns or sliding on dirt he was lost lol because it had no grunt down low......I can still hear it..WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhh lol slow as mud...then wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....it was flying.

Can't wait to see if this tune comes to fruition...I'm in if it does I think.

also, with go karts and mini bikes, gearing makes a huge difference in top speed. Not even mentioning adding something like a Torque-a-verter which is essentially a CVT transmission.

Wow! Didn't know the Minis were that slow with an extra 100bhp. I'd think it would be a pocket rocket and would walk the Ranger even tho being a handler vs straight liner.

I'm a huge fan of small British cars like the Mini. I know for a fact that even if my Elise was in stock form (190bhp) it would show the average tuned Ranger it's tail lights w/o much effort.
LOL...it's not slow by any means...what I meant is that the Ranger could effortlessly and quietly take off from a stand still without drama due to it's torque (and automatic gearing)...my MINI, even with 245whp/190lb of torque would make a hella drama (loud exhaust + stage 3 clutch) to match the Ranger for the first 60 feet...that's if I manage to launch perfectly without the tires going up in smoke... I'm not a good drag racer, more comfortable on road circuits...come to think of it, I'm going to see if I line up against some "Ricers" next time I go cruising in my Ranger:)

My prior vehicle was a Focus ST (2013) and it put something like 275HP/340tq to the wheels. Ate mini's for breakfast on the way to work everyday :). The Ranger isn't quite as fast as the Focus, but my guess it would be close(better in the 1/8th), especially if it were tuned, simply because it's "correct" wheel drive to take advantage of weight transfer.

Nice...I wouldn't take you on in a straight drag race (fwd against awd no contest) but on a track, we'd have some fun:)

Not anymore :(

Oldsmobile 88 to the B-pillar solved that problem for me. Felt "great"! It was a very fun car though, but wasn't very good at hauling lumber.

Really!? These new Rangers are quite quick esp for a truck! Put her in sport mode w/ tank of 93 octane premium my friend an mash that throttle. Forget the mini & keep on Ford truckin I say. God bless!
I don't have a Mini! :) But yes "really" in regards to my other comments. No contest.

I too have been running prem fuel since my first fill up. For its segment the Ranger is pretty quick!

Wonder what would happen if you put a 2:1 reduction on that 2 stroke? Gearing is the limiting factor, particularly on a single speed kart. The 125cc Shifter carts probably have less torque than your briggs but still make 40+ hp.

Well by the time I was i high school in shop we had alcohol burning 4 cycles that would lay rubber with a live axle and slicks on asphalt. In my pre teen days with the yard carts the two cycles had almost no torque and single gear and had to have a run way to compete...The had a slightly higher(bigger driven sprocket but only by a few teeth)...The clutches were pretty much all the same.

2.1 might help but back then it would have to be more I think...now days who knows. :)
