Thanks! I suspect this is going to be a more regular thing for me, so I'll probably do the OHV annual pass instead of the day use, just makes more sense (and even if I don't use it, at least the money is going to help maintain these areas).
You don’t need a OHV pass for anything. That’s for dirt bikes, quads, side by sides. Things that aren’t street legal to be able to ride off road. Your standard street legal license plates over rules all OHV registration

since when? I have been going here for 35 years and they charge me every time, dirt bikes with me or not. They charge everyone for day use.

I was going to say, I've never been to an OHV area that didn't require either the $5 OHV Day pass, or an annual OHV pass to enter. According to the SVRA OHV division, a fee is required to use any SVRA/OHV areas ($5 daily or $50 annual): http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=25760

To the west of Frazier Mountain is the Miller Jeep Trail - has anyone been there? It'd be fun to explore on a later trip (seems to be closed till May); rated Moderate, with offroad mods recommended (lift, tires, armor, lockers).

https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/lockwood-miller-jeep-trail

I would say it's more than moderate...maybe moderate for a fully built jeep... I've done the trail a bunch of times on my dirt bike and it's got some gnarly sections! I wouldn't take my truck on it due to the overgrowth on the trail, pinstripe city

There are some great trails near there on the north side of Fraizer mountain that won't tear up the paint.

Cherry creek trail near Mt Pinos is a fun one too!

I’ve never been to a OHV area that requires you to have that if you are already street legal. I’m pretty heavily involved in the motorcycle/dirt bike industry and that’s one of the beauties about a street legal dual sport. Your license plate over rides a green or red sticker OHV registration. Unless SoCal is different.. but I would bet $100 it isn’t.

Yes, plates override red/green stickers, but not day use fees, they're two different OHV schemas for SVRA OHV areas.
