Poor Clutch Design, Cheap Hose, and a Single Fuse protecting 6 or 7 major systems. Poor engineering or poor management decisions (you decide) to have 3 weak links like this.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
I believe folks on here said that the 6G has an electric fan. Wonder is this crappy design played any part in the decision to go electric on the new model?

I like to think it did. But who knows what drives Ford's design decisions.

So I remember mentioning this before and was told no... but has anyone looked into doing an E-fan swap on their truck?

I would much prefer an electric fan, but the problem is that this is no longer simply a hardware problem, you must modify software settings to enable engine management to control/ manage the cooling system changes.

Something this simple doesn't need the complexities of computer control. I know all the arguments for Ford going this route, but we are trading ease of maintenance and reliability for more precise engine management.

The more complex the plumbing the easier it is to stop it up... and the more expensive it is to maintain the system.

Mainly fuel economy, but maybe the stupid hose has a little to do with it. Even disengaged the engine driven fan will still put a small amount of drag on the engine.
