Why not back up 5 feet and not need a cover?
Plausible, however your solution just won't work in my situation, I have an open carport which faces an often rainy valley, not an enclosed garage.

Additionally, reversing it 5 feet will block access to my tool cabinet and any access around the rear of the vehicle.

For what it is worth, I found a suitable cover online.

I see your little buddy in the far right! Extra bonus points for you! =)
Good eye!

Andre, a 19 month old male Frenchie insisted on being in the picture.

He, like most bulldogs are probably the most stubborn creatures inhabiting the planet (even worse than me, a 69 year old geezer), however their unique personalities and unwavering devotion more that compensate for their obstinance.

What do you do for the aging gas and battery?
Good question.

The OE battery needed to be replaced 3 months ago, despite a BatteryTender being attached to it.

Fuel wise I use ethanol free unleaded with fuel stabilizer added, I used the truck just last week for an errand, it ran just fine.

As you can see it's time to top off the tank again.

For my truck in a carport, I wanted something that wouldn’t cook the paint but could still deal with rain blowing in. The one I went with had a snug fit, good stitching, and held up well during windy nights. It came from a brand that offers outdoor covers with solid water resistance and a lifetime warranty, which took a lot of stress out of choosing.

The image shown was taken sometime in Jan. 2020, it still had the dealer "paper plates" on it.

Fast forward to today (11/10/24) in the same "pose".

Yes, that's the original mileage it's been driven so far...

..
And I thought my '21 SCab Lariat Sport was low mileage at just shy of 20,000 miles.
