Just sharing some info, had an intermittent P0471 check engine light come on. The tech replaced the "Exhaust Pressure Sensor." Truck is approaching 50k miles.

I use a Scan Gauge ii daily which is what I used to clear it. Sometimes it would come back in a few mins and sometimes a few days. No perceived power loss and still drove normally. Was covered under an emissions warranty so didn't even need to use my extended warranty. It has been a week now and no more CEL so I presume the correct component was replaced.

Here is the frustrating part and why I am worried to upgrade the radiator, intercooler and do a tune. My local Ford dealer is nuts and the others near by I don't know will be any better. My service history and "relationship" was built on the dealer closest to my home.

The assistant service manager was walking the drive since it was a little backed up. He asked me what I was in for, mentioned I have an appointment for a check engine light (CEL). He looks at the Tremor and said "it looks lifted", I say "yeah its a Tremor". Sees my Scan Gauge ii near the instrument cluster and makes a big deal out of it. "I have seen those things cause intermittent CEL" he says. I tell him "its not a tuner or pedal commander, it just reads temps since I tow. I have had it on the truck since day 1." He then says "I am going to have to call the foreman over." I am now frustrated since my wife is waiting to pick me up. My advisor shows up and wonders what the big deal is (worked with him once before). The foreman finally comes and gets filled in on the issue and looks confused as to why he was even called over.

They already require a 1hr commitment should it not be warranty, write the damn thing up is my thought so I can get out of here. Ultimately it was covered.

Is there anyway you could share the Dealerships name?
Maybe a Personal Message? I wonder if I should avoid this Dealer.

My truck vibrates right at 45mph the most, though also above 70mph.
No missing wheel weights or tire damage that I can see.

I am going to have it road force balanced first to try to address the vibration issue before going to the Dealer. Maybe there is an unseen tire issue or better balancing can fix it.

I also wonder if the driveshaft center support is bad. Seen that a few times here.

The stock coil over & rear shocks were all leaking when I first bought the truck.
I did not want to replace them with the stock parts and not sure if they were available during the Covid parts shortages. I had replaced my blown shocks with Eibach's front and rear at 6k.

I also had it aligned & balanced though not road force balanced at the same time by a local tire shop. (6k)
I did not have any vibration issues for over 2.5k miles.
I am at 10k miles now and I need to get off my butt and address this issue.

I am beginning to wonder if the Ford Protect Premium warranty I paid for is useless for any suspension related issues because installation of the Eibach suspension parts.

I had previously taken the truck to Gaudin for the blend door that was stuck and all they did is unstuck the door and cleared the code. No new parts. Hey, but It is still working to date!

They never called me as promised for replacing the rear camera. It was supposed to be ordered and replaced by warranty. It was displaying the blue green horizontal lines.

It starting working a week later.
Then it stopped almost a year to the date, then started working again a couple of weeks later. Still working today!

Thanks, Robert

I took it to Ford Country in Henderson. I do the services there and the only other time I had warranty work it was there. I actually purchased new at Gaudin and recently did a service there but man, they were about $50 more for a full syn. oil change and a good +20min away where Ford Country is about 5-8min down the road.

The only other time I had mine at the dealer (besides services) was for a rear camera and remote start not working. I don't remember if it was the camera or the harness but they fixed both issues. The remote start was through the app and they replaced a module for that.

I don't know which dealer here would be best to take a modified vehicle. It is a shame because logic would tell you if an aftermarket component caused the issue or not but it is easier for them to blame it than prove it didnt. I recently had to help a friend make a case for their aftermarket warranty to cover their GM trans. Just because they had 34" AT tires on a Suburban! Thanks to chatGPT getting the specs and such was easy. They eventually approved the trans.

I had a hell of a time getting an alignment out here in Vegas in 2021 when the truck was new (did a 1" level) since no one had the Tremor alignment specs in their systems yet so drove it to my buddies shop in CA for the alignment around 10k when I put 33" on and just now at 47k when I replaced them. Went to 2 shops for alignments, firestone messed it up, steering wheel was a good 15* off center and then another shop was better but noticed it was aligned to FX4 specs. Called a few shops and no one had the Tremor specs, I think Arrow Alignment is the Vegas go to but they were booked out a week and the alignment was not off. Tremor calls for different specs, so off to CA I went back then.

Good luck and please DM me if you find a good dealer. Otherwise, my advisor at Ford Country is Jose, cool enough guy.

Just to clarify - This is not the historical - DPFE Sensor, this is for Exhaust Backpressure readings, still plays a role with EGR valve control though.
Thanks, yeah I don't know much about how the electronics/sensors are on the Ranger, just passing along some info.

Why do they care if you have a pedal commander?
Just trying to find a way to avoid warranty which is a lame excuse since it does not modify fuel ratios or timing.

Hey Anthony @awd.nv, I just remember seeing a guy named Patrick selling an engine cover in Las Vegas. His profile says he's a Ford Tech.
@MY23RANGER I wanted to ask him where he works and if he would be able to check out my center support bearing. Maybe your truck too.
Patrick, are you out there? ? (Lol!) Thanks, Robert

Thankfully my truck has been fixed but would be curious if he has anything to share about modder friendly ford dealers in the Vegas area

Hey guys,

I've searched and haven't seen any threads about a Service Engine Soon Warning (check engine light) with the app message: Exhaust Pressure Sensor.
Screenshot_20250205-171932.webp

This was an intermittent problem in September and October, and hasn't occurred since, but I've also been mostly driving my other vehicles since that time while waiting on new suspension bushings. Seems to occur after extended periods of easy cruising (ie towing at a constant speed), and resolves after engine is switched off and everything cools down.

Note that I have a Magnaflow cat back, K&N filter, and the FP tune, in addition to 285/75-17s.

Could this be related to the DPFE sensor? https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/thre...mbly-replacement-write-up-lb5z-9j433-b.29247/

Anything else to check?

Thanks,

Wes
