Ethanol mix tuning?

Has anyone played with e30/e40 tuning yet? These trucks seem to gain a lot on 93. With my experience in the Focus ST world we usually see 15-20whp more than a 93 tune with a good e30 tune.

I do not believe the Ranger Fuel System is designed to handle above E15.

But how long does your motor last running high ethanol fuel? How much extra maintenance is required? I’ll burn alcohol in a weekend only/track vehicle but not for my DD

Please refer me to the Federal Register or EPA regulations to support this statement. I have had no luck finding this ruling. There was a push by a corn producing state in 2013 to force E30, but it made it no further. There is a Federal Register listing of the of the the EPA requiring manufactures to support E15 in 2019. I can not find any data or rules to back up your statement. If there is a ruling I will be most happy to learn of its contents relative to my 2019 Ranger which will never see E15 if I can help it. Hope you like your E40 tune...you pay your money and you take your chances...

Phil - not sure which reg, didn't find it in a search. basing it off the articles that talk about high ethanol gas stating that vehicles pre 2013 need to check the manufacturers specs to make sure the fuel system hardware doesn't contain parts that could be damaged by the ethanol....seals, gaskets, ect. and that all vehicle 2013 and newer are safe. just to clarify, this is only talking about it not melting parts, not that the vehicles are setup to run on it. I wouldn't set my truck up with a tune that only used a set E whatever... if a kit came out that would convert it to a flex fuel, then I would be interested.

Roofhopper - the engine runs cooler w/ more power. the main thing people seem to worry about was oil contaminates and would change their oils more frequently. the frs had a 8k recommended oil change schedule. most would do a 4k-5k schedule. my frs was a daily driver and I ran E85 7mo of the year. didn't run it in monsoon season cause it was too squirly and winter cause E85 was harder to start in cold weather.
