And the verdict is in!

Rather than having a bad shake ar 45 mph, my 2019 is now glass smooth at 45. No high speed results yet, but my expectation is the vibration/shakes are gone for good.

At least for me, money well spent since Ford won't take ownership of the various driveline issues that are widely reported.
I'm interested to hear the high speed (80-85mph) results, that's where mine is the worst. (100% stock)

Just had it re-phased to align the u-joints and re-balanced.

I moved the axle back about a half inch when I lowered the truck to keep from bottoming out the slip joint so I did not have the overall length altered.

Yea, my eyes see the slightly off center wheel/tire in the wheel well but I chose to let it be.
Thanks Win, looks great and im sure it handles great. I wonder why Ford put the shaft in an out of phase condition? Bret

Did you get your truck over 80 with the new driveshaft balance? Inquiring minds want to know if all of the vibration is gone!

I can neither confirm, nor deny testing at super-legal speeds but can confirm glass smooth performance while I was failing to notice the speedometer.

Thank you sir. If I end up getting another Ranger that exhibits this behavior I'll likely have to do the same thing you've done. Ford seems to deny there's a problem. Was one of the only things that truly bothered me about my 2019.

It's crazy, my wife's FX4 does not have the issue and yet the u-joints are clearly out of phase and the balance weights are scattered all over. Yea, the front half is shorter than on my RWD so differences are expected but still, the out of phase u-joints should cause the same issues on all of them.

Hi CO2,

Have you opened up a formal complaint with Ford Customer Care? Recommend you do so if you have not and if you have...please indicate in a post.

So I took on the burden of working this same problem of higher speed vibrations since Ford had no interest in helping me. Drive shaft angles are measured, Center bearing was adjusted, wheels were rotated all with little changes but no solution. Last week I decided to machine a set of hub-centric spacers and would you believe the problem is completely gone. I am about 300 miles in and it appeareds that the lug nuts were not properly centering the wheels to the hubs perfectly.

Ford Customer Care case filed 9 months ago. Every resolution was take it to another dealership no matter who I talked to...... nonsense

How much gap did you have between the wheel center bore and the hub?

Yes that’s correct the driveshaft has a phasing offset. Comes from Dana that way. Not sure if it’s a Ford blueprint or what.

Also, has anyone had an issue with pulling a trailer with your truck? Vibration or any kind of noise?

It wouldn't surprise me at all if they outsourced the shaft assembly to an overseas company who has little to no understanding of proper phasing/balance techniques or procedures.

I have the inclining to take these pictures and the videos of the shaft bouncing around to a local drive shaft specialist to see what they say about it. I mean it's almost worth paying them to run a diagnostic on it to see what they find.
No they’re built in KY. It’s called Vector balancing.

The balancing is Vector done on a soft chassis balancer. But it is built at Dana Louisville.
