Drivers seat cushion

anybody else feel that the drivers seat will start wearing prematurely from sliding out of the truck? I remember having to have my explorer seat built ?

Interesting observation.. I thought the same thing the other day.

The damage is proportional to how much the driver weighs.

But I'd rather get the seat re-built, someday, than have side steps - nerf bars - whatever they call them.

I've thought about it. I once switched all the passenger and driver seat cushions on my 92 corvette after about 5 years to even out the wear and abrasions from seat belts and sliding off the seat. Both sides still looked pretty good when I sold it in 2003.

I wonder if the ranger bottom cushions are interchangeable. Air bags in the seat backs probably won't make that possible but the seat bottoms might work. I saw a video recently about how to add cooling units to the seats and it looked like the bottom cushions are identical but I can't remember for sure if there are holes in the leather for the control switch harnesses.

There are protective covers available if you're worried. I did add running boards but I need to get used to using them. The missing drivers side grab handle would have helped if Ford hadn't been so cheap.

Thanks, I was thinking it was something to add under the current seat covers but I guess that wouldn’t work anyways since there would be no way for the air to get through the leather.

It's expensive but maybe worth it you were planning to keep the truck for a long time and live in a hot climate. Ontario probably wouldn't qualify LOL.

I definitely plan on keeping it a long time... it gets pretty sticky here in the summer but only for a month or so!

I lived in Buffalo and upstate NY for many years so I know what that one sticky month is like.
