I have a 19 Ranger with 86,000 miles. I replaced the DPFE sensor around 50,000 and just replaced it again. Anyone else having this problem?

I think it is common. I'm on my first replacement ( changed at 18K miles) and have a couple more in my Ranger stash. I view them as consumables.

2019 I replaced mine around 70,000, earlier this year. Made a big difference for me and still running great.

I scheduled mine for replacement every 30K, using the Standard Motor Products VP41 from Rockauto which is usually just the Motorcraft part with the print scrubbed off.

Its one of those things that is cheap/easy enough to just put in the 'consumable' column of my repair spreadsheet and be done with it.

What is the indication/symptom that it needs attention? My Tremor has 55,000 on it. Should I give the DPFE some attention.

Usually low speed/part throttle stumbling and odd feeling gearchanges.

I did mine Saturday night, was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was. I purchased the $40 one on Amazon that does not have the hoses already attached and a $10 variety pack of worm gear clamps. Took under an hour start to finish, including getting tools out, doing some engine bay recon, and then putting everything away.

Prior to replacement I had some issues that I originally attributed to the transmission but now I think it have just been the DPFE sensor all along.

I just replaced mine at 98,000 miles. No CEL and it wasn't shifting terribly but a little weird sometimes. It's better now.
I got the $20 unit from Rock Auto without the hoses. Took a little over a half hour, most of the time spent battling the hose clamps.

In the future, I wouldn't trust any part from Amazon. They are so rife with fake parts and knockoffs that it isn't worth dealing with them. Rockauto, a Ford dealer, or a brick and mortar store only for these kinds of parts.

Astro Pneumatic Tool 9409A Hose... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003D3N7YW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

This clamp made it easy to remove the compression hose clamps.
