I vaguely remember someone on here posted they swapped over to different DI components and greatly reduced that terrible ticking noise our trucks make. Is there something specific to Ford parts that operates this system, or could I go out and buy a higher performance version of those parts to swap in?

I've been around plenty of DI four bangers and none of them come close to the Ranger in terms of being so obnoxious.

If anything there is the engine cover that is on the lariat. How does that help? Well it is a foam sprt of material and it will help dampen the noise. It does look goofy in my opinion but to each thier own. As for a replacement pump? I dont think anyone has a direct replacement but even if that dif yoy are talking a hefty price tag.

Injectors make noise, its the nature of the beast. Spending money to "fix" something thats not even wrong seems kinda silly to me.. but to each their own. The 2.3 duratec that this motor is based on is also a noisy bugger.

How about a carb swap?

Ive driven plenty of other DI vehicles and in my personal anecdotal experience none have come close to the noise level on this truck. In retrospect, all of those had better engine coverings. Might just try the foam engine cover and see if it makes it more palpable.

The foam cover I'm sure will make a good difference.
