So took the Tremmy to vegas last thursday for the mint 400 and really enjoyed the drive as the truck is pretty darn comfy. Got back late sat and parked her in the garage.

Sun morning rolls around and I went to get my stuff out of the truck and the entire garage reeked of fuel. Started looking around and under the truck to see if there was a noticeable leak any where. As i traced the fuel lines up from the tank i find the front drive shaft coming from the transfer case is slinging axel grease everywhere. Couldn’t track down the fuel leak but truck still smells as of this morning. Called the dealer i got it from to book an appointment lucky for me they have one available 1/12/22. So after trying not to lose my shit on the poor kid on the phone I just drove down to the dealership. They have it now and said they will look at it in a few days to see if it is ā€œunsafeā€ to drive and at that time can cover a rental.
So now 3k miles into the truck i’ve had 2 paint defects(repaired but took 11 days) a fuel leak and a drive train issue.
Hopefully there are no national backorder parts involved.

Really regretting being impulsive and not just ordering a ZR2 but we will see how this plays out.

Sorry for your luck.
I’ve had nothing but good luck with my ā€˜20 FX4 (apart from the rodent thing).
Hoping you get resolved quickly and satisfactorily.?

Sorry to hear this and hopefully it's a quick easy fix! I was just thinking over the weekend why are all these Broncos having so many problems and none from the Ranger? Seeing as they're both made at MAP you'd think it was something on the production line?

I test drove the ZR2 right before buying my Ranger and wasn't impressed with it at all! The interior was really outdated and the drivetrain was just ok. Give it time to see what they say about your Ranger before giving up. Good Luck!

generally I feel compassion for people when things go wrong....until they throw on these kind of ad-ons, then i dont care anymore.
Hahaha fair enough. It really is true though i was looking for another colorado but 2 local dealers had 0 in stock so i stopped next door at ford just to see what they had and they just happen to have a tremor in the right color fresh off the truck

I drove a bison a while back and while the diesel was a little low on power it was pretty nice

Today and three weeks that my truck has been at the dealership. They ordered a manifold and HPFP and injectors and other stuff because they don't know how to fix it since they don't know what causes it so they're replacing any possible option they think caused it.
One more week and I'm filing lemon law and I'm gonna try to get them to exchange for me instead of a buyback.. I was told for an ass my driving habits and he didn't really tell them. It was after a long drive at high speeds that I had this issue. That's why I think that's what causes it. Around town drivers I don't think I have the same issue.
I've had a stupid Escape as a loaner vehicle thankfully but I would never own one. It's a peppy little thing but everything else in it sucks. I got lucky getting a loaner from them.
So, no parts yet have come in and I don't think they're going to get it back to me before the 30 day period that allows me under Florida law to file the lemon law. That means they have one more chance to correct the problem and since they're still working on it I assume that will count as that one chance.
The service manager told me they're trying to locate the one vehicle they had before which had the same problem, to give it to their engineers to look over. That one vehicle was a buyback on the lemon law. He said they did everything to the truck that they're going to do to my truck. The problem is they cannot locate that truck.
When I took the truck in, they immediately gave me a free oil change and it was very water down from the fuel in the oil. You can read my post on it.
So right now I'm still waiting to see what happens. But get that oil changed because you will have that much in there. Make notice of how high your oil level is on the dipstick and save a sample to send to Blackstone. I just got a free collectors kit from them though they will charge me to test the oil but it will be worth it if I have to do it again in the future
Good luck.

Thanks for the info and advice!

w i didn't check the oil before dropping it off but hopefully im not headed down that road. But we will see

honestly kinda grateful for the fuel issue at this point or i probably would not have notice the transfer case issue untill something really broke

Man what a bummer. It is just dumb luck what happens to these things. Machines and man can only be so perfect.

I have 11k miles on my Tremor and still going strong thankfully. I do not log my towing miles (yeah probably should) but I am sure at least 3k miles of that were towing our travel trailer. Just the trip to Newport Beach was basically 550mi and not to mention the many trips to parts of Utah and AZ.

I have beat on it a little off-road too.

I am curious what your paint defects were. I have 2 areas of concern but frankly haven't brought them up yet because of my lack of trust in body shops to get it right.

I had a grain of sand or something on the door under the paint that the qc guys at the dealership circled when it came of the truck and then on the rocker where the textured protectant is painted over on the driverside the body shop said it was a chemical reaction due to the under coat not being fully dried before it was sprayed caused about 5-6 popped bubbles

i was really nervous about them painting it but they did a flawless job at the dealership

Yeah, sounds like the grain of sand thing is what I have too. Saw it in two spots but there is something in my door jam that if this was an old truck I would think it was rust under the paint. I have not taken a picture of that yet but here is what the one defect looks like. I honestly think a bad body shop repair would upset me more than this issue so I have decided to wait a little to report it.

Your dealer seemed quite detail oriented though. My left rear window trim was not even installed properly from the factory. Did not notice it until it was home....which is my bad but being a black truck I guess it slipped past me as I was trying to look for dings and paint issues.

Thankfully the truck has been problem free so far otherwise.

Thats exactly what mine looked like on the rear pass door

i was going back and forth on having it fixed but i figured it would break through eventually and then it would be just a matter of time for water to get in and really start messing it up

Update:

fuel smell -
dealer says they couldn't locate the smell of fuel and I brought it home and no smell so far. Checked the oil and wasn’t high and smells like oil to me so that goes in the mystery hope it doesnt happen again category.

Transfer case - dealer said ā€œfound a small amount of moisture and said that it was from assembly and they cleaned it. Went out to the truck and apparently they cleaned something else because the grease was still there. Showed the service advisor and he said that looks like grease from a boot but the boot is not cracked so he asked if i was ok cleaning it myself and see if it comes back and noted it.

So i guess the current plan is wait and see. I guess the important part is its all noted so if the front driveshaft fails its on them
