My spare tire was wobbly from the factory, had lots of room to move about under there. That was when I first got the truck, snugged it up and 2000 miles later its still good.

Mine was tight when I swapped it out for a wheel and tire combo to match the rest of my setup.

Hi Justin,

Please call Ford Customer Care and file a complaint on this loose spare....This is serious. The spare as attached to the vehicle is to be secrure. Okay...why??? Because the spare is in play in a rear crash and a loose spare can result in injury of occupants of the Ranger. This should never happen. Glad you caught this, but it needs to be documented. It is a potentially dangerous condition that cannot be dismissed. Something went wrong if you spare tire was loose.

When you drop your spare on the winch and winch it back up, you tighten it up until the wench "gives" effort...This ensures proper seating.

I will definitely do this. I just wanted to put some miles on the truck after tightening to make sure I didn't have a faulty unit.
