Camera in rear view mirror

Does anyone else have this in between the camera and the windshield of their Ranger? I didn’t notice it when I picked the truck up last week from the dealer, but I had the windows tinted and they added the clear ceramic on the front glass. I asked the guys at the tint shop about it, but they said the tint is cut to go around the mirror, and they do not remove the mirror. I’m afraid Ford will blame the tint guys now.

That should be an electric defogging strip, like found on the rear window.

It's the reference line the computer uses for lane keeping assist etc .

Is it perhaps both, reference and defog? It looks just like the defog strips and looks like other strips running around in the black area for defogging as well.

I used to get the forward assist unavailable all the time early in the morning when the windows were frosted. It came on even after the windshield was fully cleared by the defrost. Maybe the turns on with the rear "IF" it does anything like that.

Just bought a 22 Ranger STX.. There appears to be a diagonal red line or string inside the pre collision camera housing. (also a piece of paper or a loose tag can be seen from inside the cab, inside the camera housing louvers. Thoughts?

That's a new one Jim, I've never heard of anything like that. If everything is working properly I wouldn't worry. But, if it bothers you take 'er to the dealer, and let them take a look. I guess they would have to remove the thing from the glass to get to that stuff.

Is it a defroster or the line they use to calibrate the camera? Not sure, I have heard both, the paper thing is probably attached to a wire loom, I have that same thing hanging through my louvers and I just keep pushing it back up, to lazy to pull the vent down and tap it up.

oh wait now i see it! yep, no worries i think mines also that way. i can see a little bit of the white tag on mine also if i crane my head around.
