Well that's sad for the Austrailians, Holden makes some bad-ass cars.
they do but have to say some of the higher end evs can put it down as well - iirc some in sub 2 sec for 0 to 60 .

No but they will buy that EV Hummer and claim they are being "green", reminds of about 10 yrs back, went camping with a friend and his older sister , she had a dream job where she jet setted with rich clients, mostly mds to all of the desirable places - everest base camp, african safaris, patagonia, etc. My buddy drove a chevy suburban, she a subaru, we had a discussion on global warming and being green and she brought up how she disapproved of her brother driving a gas eating , air polluting Suburban, ignoring of course the pollution of jets . To top it off her husband opened a plastic wrapped snack and was about to throw it in our campfire, like lightning her hand shot out, grabbed his arm and "said don't, that's bad for the environment" , I just stood back shaking my head in disbelief.

This will sound rude and I do not mean to offend others. However, it is difficult for me to feel bad for California. For decades California has been off the rails in terms of politics and finances. Folks that live, work, and vote in California are getting the fruits of what has been planted. I know many people do not like and did not want or support the things happening in California. That is fine, I understand. But, do not leave California and go to other states and bring the same flawed ways and issues with you. Things that are happening in California and now other states as well do not even seem to be things that could be true in the United States. I cannot speak for others but I can say Texas has had more than enough of influx and is starting to suffer with the same problems the west coast has. I expect Texas to be in bad shape ten years from now. Do not know where I would flee too lol. As far as forced EV goes I will not risk a comment, I like the folks here too much.
Better the other 48 states than Hawaii, besides when they see the cost of living here they'll quickly change their minds, trust me...

Grand plan, lofty goal. But with no oversight, that's all it is, a lofty goal. The ZEV mix today is around 12% of new passenger vehicles sold in California, or about one of every eight new vehicles. January 1, 2026 is only 28 months away and they expect to be at 35%, or over one out of three? 18-20% at best, IMO. What then? A quota system for ICE vehicle sales?

And what about other sources of CO2 and hydrocarbons? Gas heating, charcoal and wood fired grills, SxS', and ATVs, lawn mowers, boats & ships, aircraft of all types, locomotives, construction equipment, farm machinery... what else am I forgetting? Looking at the big picture, personal ICE vehicles are a rather small part, but represents the low hanging fruit.
just so you know here is a link to EV farm tractors either available or under development:

I believe that Cali has previously passed a law banning the sale of small gas engines in 2024 and as a few posters have astutely pointed out - when Cali leads, others may follow, it is after all the Golden State .

California may someday look like Cuba with decades old ice vehicles on the road, unless they ban operating ice vehicles altogether, it is after all the Golden State

their country their right to decide.
Yeah, like there was public support for illegal invaders and the criminally ridiculous COVID response. Only in a disarmed nation. Notice the exact same crap going on in every disarmed British Commonwealth nation. Thinking Australia recently announced 'power emergencies' in multiple areas of the nation...

California is set to roll out its long-awaited ban on new gasoline cars on Thursday, which is part of its rule to have all new cars sold by 2035 to be electric only in an effort to fight climate change.

Governor Gavin Newsom first announced the ban in 2020 as a means to reduce he amount of smog-induced pollution in the air, which will improve the state's air quality that is the worst in the US.

The move will also make California the first in the world to mandate zero-emission vehicles on its roads.

Headline's pretty misleading.

F. Californicate. Get the military folks out and burn that entire POS down.
Before we get the military folks out let’s first get all the liberal politicians out.

It’s such a beautiful State to see it destroyed by lunatics and their leftists policies but apparently that’s who is getting voted in.
It’s no surprise to see the sane people are moving out.

Wondering how many of these 'elections'(?) going back decades are actually legit?

Here in NC, a very popular governor (Pat McCrory) surprisingly lost an election that was loaded with obvious 'irregularities'. When asked, he stated it's "nothing new, not worth fighting and has been going on nationally for a very long time".

Most interesting was when Pat left the Charlotte Mayor's Office to run for governor, black politicians began 'winning'(?) en masse all over NC. Every mayoral and sheriff's election here in Charlotte has been a complete farce for the last 15+ years.

The current race for Sheriff of Jacksonville, FL is raising scores of eyebrows for the same reasons - you would never know it by the local media, same here in Charlotte.

The 'complexion' of the nation is being 'changed'(?) through political and media 'maneuvering'. :(

Agree, too much voter fraud, pretty obvious now.
We should adopt Frances system.

Cuba is a fascinating study. The only reason they still embrace Communism IMO is because of the demographics. Most of the nation (except for the 'nomenklatura') was reduced to the lowest common denominator. Most interesting since Cuba had a strong middle class prior to 1959.

Don't know about some of the particulars you mention but Australia is ranked by numerous publications and rankers ( is that a real word, sounds too much like wankers) in the top 10 countries, link below is to one of them. I try to keep up on world and domestic events but don't get too taken up by them because my long view of the human race is quite simple - it's going to destroy itself , just a matter of how and when.

Agree, some yrs back read several books on Cuba and the Fidelistas, lots of US involvement (meddling) and questionable policies. Nothing new there though as in with of our neighbors to the south there persists a level of distrust with the yanquis to the north , the Clash album Sandinista had a lot of political themes interwoven into numerous styles of music, I still have the album, three vinyl discs.

just to conclude though I thought it was in a way humorous when the gipper and ortega were exchanging insults and I think ortega got the upper hand in calling the gipper a "3rd rate hollywood actor" ouch
