Patrick, it doesn't take much pressure on the brake pedal to set that aggravating thing off in mine. I was taught years ago in defensive driving courses to brake with my left foot. Now, it's a habit I can't break. I have to conciously remember to keep my big ol' dumb left foot away from the pedal everytime I acclerate from a turn, or I'll get that warning.
Driving a manual makes it really easy to keep that left foor occupied.

ive always driven with two feet. in manual and autos. if i use the left for the brake my foot is not on or even close to touching the brake pedal unless im off the gas and mean to brake. maybe my feet are uniquely immune to this riding the brake issue others have who use two feet in an auto. i was born club footed or pigeon toed or whatever it is called so maybe thats why lol

my problem disappeared after a few weeks and has recently come back.

i have seen this problem mentioned on a facebook group too and if your vehicle is under warranty then the pedal will be replaced for you.
I am convinced it’s a lubricant related issue where the travel of the pedal does not fully go back to a zero pressure state, hence fooling the system that there is still pressure applied on the gas pedal. When I have a spare moment I will try and lubricate or use contact cleaner on the pedal’s travel sensor to attempt to eliminate the fault as it has gone away in the past for no reason at all, which makes me think it’s a seasonal/humidity related fault.
I actually thought of the exact same thing yesterday ? that it could be a gas pedal sensor or something. I'm going to try to clean and lubricate it today.
If it doesn't work, I do still have warranty.
Thanks for the heads up ?
