Blown transmission 2019…

mines been to dealers a few times for transmission issues. the most recent they told me nothing was wrong with it. rough shifts, hanging in gear, missing gears, stumbles between gears, gear hunts etc. basically the same as everyone else has posted. i had the tsb done and it has not helped but im at 34k and it has not gone poof yet. i expect it to go out just shortly after the 36k warranty is out lol. but it dont matter much as the last dealer i went to told me that me putting on aftermarket shocks, struts, and leaf springs voided my warranty... worst thing about owning a ford is always the dealers.

Even if you bought used, you still have the same factory warranty, it is just that the years started at the date of original purchase and not your purchase.

Yes but remember you have to buy your esp before 36K an 36 months. I'm pretty sure once you past one of those you no longer qualify for ESP an your only options are third party.

Thank you Langley! Im not going to the esp. I think they are worth while in many situations but in mine I cant seem to find a dealer that even wants to honor the basic warranty so an extended one will not help me. for the most part the 5g is a solid truck. when the transmission goes poof hopefully i can get it rebuilt without robbing a bank.

We can still offer coverage, but there is an additional surcharge and a pre-purchase inspection that has to be performed.

That’s what I was attempting to find here again, what model year did they correct this with the 10R80? Was it 2022 & beyond?

Good question I thought I read it was 2023 but I don't know for sure.

I picked up a fantastic deal on a 2023 after having my 2019 for four years. I posted of one shifting mishap I experienced with my 2019, and that might have been related to the EGR valve…otherwise a rock solid truck. I will say the 2023 5G is definitely improved in many subtle ways, including the 10 speed shifting over my 2019. I personally HATED the transmission in my 2018 TACO TRD OR. I’m glad to see they moved on with a turbo and new transmission. With that said, I wouldn’t want a 2024 TACO or 2024 6G Ranger yet, even our 2019 5G’s were technically new despite the parts being used to build them were not, and thousands of modern Rangers were being sold in other countries that were very similar.

Yep, even though Ford says you can, they might try to say I did it wrong, even though I have flat towed it 10,000 miles without issue. But I do photo & geotag the dash display at both the start and finish to prove it was in tow mode.

I’ve never posted to a forum before so please forgive me if I’ve done this wrong. But I needed to get my experience out there.
Bought a 2020 Ranger to tow behind a motorhome. Loved it. Then the transmission blew up. Ford replaced it but blamed us. We ALWAYS followed the protocol for flat tow. After that we recorded every time we put it into flat tow. And 1 1/2 years later it blew up again. Ford dealer quoted a TSB and accused us of improper towing. Showed them the videos and fought like crazy. They finally agreed to reimburse 65% with a debit card. Got rid of the truck. This is a real problem and Ford is blaming us. Be warned!

reading these threads has convinced me of two things. 1) I will be buying the ESP because it is worth it for the peace of mind. My pops used to say "Carry full coverage Insurance on anything you can't afford to replace" ESP is basically that for me. I am looking at retirement in the next 1-2 years if not sooner and I would hate to have to come up with transmission money or engine money after I retire. money well spent IMHO. and 2) I will be keeping my Ranger till I die or it dies whichever comes first.

I bleed Ford blue and I am a Ford guy for life cause they ALL have issues and going to a Taco, or Canyon or whatever flavor you want to go to all you are doing is trading one set of problems for another, or maybe even the same. so pick your poison. frying pan or fire.

I was going to wait on getting one but taking a look at the cost I will be able to save up the funds for a 175K 10 year premium before my 12 months is up. and you guys have Ziegler beat.

Hahahahahaha. I had one of those bastards. 2012 Focus titanium. I traded it in before the trans started having issues. but because of those issues took a bath on the trade in. thankfully it was paid off and I was still in Iraq making good money so I didn't really care too much. not as bad as the chevy Vega but damn close.

LMAO, Chevy Vega, there is a car I haven't heard about in a long time. All aluminum block with no iron sleeves and a body that started rusting on the showroom floor. Say what you will about Pinto's but I had 2 different years and they were very good cars. Their issue with catching fire from a rear end hit was a bad design that could have been taken care of in manufacture, Ford took a gamble and lost and this is what car manufacturers do. A 10 dollar part times the number of cars is huge but is not equal to a life. I had read that with the Pinto the odds stacked against Ford only because of the number of them made and it could have happened to other vehicles of the day.
I also bleed blue and have a 125K warranty. The cost of the warranty is less than the cost of a tranny. It could be equal and maybe a little more when spread out through the loan, but I like the peace of mind of not having to come up with the cash if mine died out of warranty. My Ranger is a 19 with 54K on it, the tranny does act up, have had it in the shop and of course it didn't do it for them. Taking it in soon to get the fluid changed. I plan on replacing it with another Ranger in a couple of years.

I caught myself admiring a 70's F150 someone had restored in a parking lot the other day.

My dad had a second gen F series he loved and I wish we still owned that tank.

I wouldn't mind a 150 with the 300 inline and a stick, they were bullet proof.
