Did a bit more plasti dip to black out the fender badge. And we had a break in the rain for a beautiful day, so decided to snap a couple pictures of her lookin so pretty. Got a few more subtle changes coming up.

Looks good! I’m wanting to do this on my lariat but not sure how easy it is to just do the chrome trim and letters? Was it difficult?

When I did this, I used masking tape to cover the area around. Others have different processes, but I like to leave a quarter inch of space to peel the extra plasti dip layer without affecting what you are actually dipping. the chrome trim was very easy to do. The lettering, I’d imagine would be harder to do. It’d be a good bit of trial and error. I’d imagine it’s almost as tough as doing no plasti dip of lettering. Like this. I can take a closer picture when I get out of bed.

Yeah that looks good and I may have to go with blackout. I was wondering if navy blue would look decent. I have navy blue accents. So I peels off the plastic inlay ok? I’ve never used plasti dip. Thanks for input

I didn’t take the fender off if you that’s what you are referring to the plastic inlay. I just applied masking tape all around the fender on the car and sprayed. Overspray is the only real concern but grab some newspaper and tape it up to cover more surface area around the fender.

plasti dip is very forgiving, it peels off very easily after drying for 10 minutes or more. So you can test around the navy blue if you’d like, and just peel if you don’t like it. Just some things to keep in mind, 4-5 sprays, do light coats each spray. Let each coat dry a little before respray. Make sure spray nozzle is clear of dried dip, which would result in splatters of dip coming out. Spray from 6-10 inches away. Practice spray on newspaper :) have fun! It’s quite enjoyable when you get used to it.

I didn’t take off the fender either. Just used masking tape and wrapping paper (because that’s what I had around) to guard off for over Spray. And like he said, it’s so easy to take off and start again if you don’t like it.
