Hi Val.

Edit: Never mind, I thought you were looking for the fasteners that mount the bracket to the vehicle.

My Ranger did not come with the front license plate bracket (wish it had) and I wanted to add a grill insert that uses the holes and fasteners for the license plate bracket. I tried a couple of dealership parts departments, and the fasteners were not available. FYI they are M6 x 20mm bolts. Ford part number W714810. I found some M6 bolts at the parts store that I used, but not black, which woulda been nice. They seem to be working fine. Good luck.
I went to Autozone and got a pack of black license plate screws. They worked for fastening the novelty plate on the OEM front license plate bracket. I wanted a flat clear cover for over it and bought the thinnest one they had, but together with the novelty plate, they wouldn't fit down in that little slit I circled in orange in the photo. So I ended up just having the novelty plate. Sorry pic isn't better, Sun was making grass reflect onto the plate.

Cyber Orange with the black appearance package. I like the 18" wheels, even if they're not preferred for serious off-roading, I think they look great.

It looks like you would also have to drill holes through the OEM bracket for 2 bottom screws if you want to put on a clear plate cover. Am I right??

Hi Val,

When faced with problems like this it can be puzzling. What I would try is abrading away the back side of the tab so a protective cover fits. This can be accomplished with a bit of effort and if I was on the road, and not my shop, I would use the rough side of a nail file to thin the tab. I have a package of nail files in my shop and use them all the time as they are disposable and work well. Sometimes you can use a hacksaw blade to do this or a toothed handsaw, followed by the nail file. Best to find a way to secure it to a work surface...use a double sided tape works well on a good work surface. I think with a bit of patience and time you can get your protective cover to work.

Good Luck with your project!

Thanks for that suggestion. I just left the plate bare. If I tried to get the bracket off or tried to file anything while it is mounted.... knowing me I'd scratch something.
