Is this meant to raise the bed height since the sides were designed too tall from the factory ?
The design allows the user to load 4' x 8' sheets of material into the truck and to safely secure it.

Yes, it raises the load above the factory wheel wells, but the height of those wheel wells is not the issue, it's the usable width of the floor between the wheel wells.

@Trigganometry glad it worked out for you. We've used ours quite often. the spaces between the lumber are ideal for placing items into before loading the 4x8 sheets.

@LaBalbe Here's the original design in the event somebody else would like to make some sawdust.

Well, I can appreciate the engineering and it looks like it could hold a lot more plywood than I'd want to load and unload! For Soupie's 1,882 pounds:

softwood 3/4" = 27 sheets
hardwood 3/4" = 23 sheets

That's one thing the Maverick did right with their two-position tailgate (I don't even know how a damper works on that!).

Duke, since you have this bookmarked, could you link to it? I looked through his thread titles, but didn't see one that stood out as being about this, and I've gone through a couple of pages of his activity from summer 2020, but nothing stands out either. Not sure if I've gone far enough or too far, so a link would be great.
I just went hunting and all the photos from back then are dead links now. @HenryMac just went and picked up some 1/2 Sheetrock. That’s the bomb!

Thanks @HenryMac ; if I do end up building myself one, I'll have to tweak it a little since I have a SCREW with the shorter bed, but it's good to have a foundation to work from. I like how you've made it easy to take apart so that it's not a permanent fixture in your bed.
