Has anyone found a soft, tri-fold cover that actually fits as it should? I ordered a Gator SFX and found it to be too short. After 3 weeks of sending pictures and exchanging information with the vendor and not getting any real answers I sent it back. I reordered an American Tri-fold and it arrived yesterday but it has exactly the same issue so it's going back too.
With both of them you install a bulkhead seal to fill the space across the front of the bed then position the cover so it seals against the bulkhead. Problem is the tailgate seal does not reach the tailgate. If I move the cover back to engage the tailgate seal then it does not seal up front. The two covers are so similar that it would not surprise me if they came down the same assembly line. I've had two F-150's previously with similar covers and both fit very well.
I toyed with the idea of adding an 1 1/2" aluminum angle to the inside of the bulkhead with 3M tape in order to be able to move the bulkhead seal back a bit but decided that I shouldn't have to make modifications after paying $300 for a cover, that it should fit.
I know from another thread on here that some of you have had similar issues. Just wonder if anyone has found the answer in a cover that actually fits. I'd appreciate your help and input.
Thanks!

I installed the Pace Edwards / Leer Ultragroove Tonneau Cover. It does fit very well. I had only a little water intruding in the tailgate area after a couple of days of heavy rain. I installed yesterday a tailgate seal which should stop that. I am very happy with the tonneau cover.

Background: I had a 2005 Ranger extended cab with a hard cap on it for 15 years, and a 1995 with a hard cap on it, for 10 years. So I have no real experience with a tonneau.

So when it came to getting the 2019 Ranger crew cab, I was not sure if I was going to cap or tonneau it. In the end, I tonneau-ed it. I used the simple soft roll-up from Ford. Price was not bad... under $400

Figured I'd start there and see what happens. So far it works great and no leaks.

So relative to this thread: Why a tri-fold soft tonneau?? VS the roll-up type...
On a hard tonneau, completely understand, it can't roll. Even the "retractable" only simulate a roll, but the price is way to much.

Just curious.

Thanks. That's one that I have not seen. I'll look into that one.

Fair question as to why a tri-fold. I guess my simple answer is that's what I have experience with and have had good luck with them on my two previous F-150's.. Not opposed to a roll up I guess and might look into the Ford offering since you've had success with it. I had considered Ford's tri-fold but went with these other two because of cost. Ford's tri-fold is over $500 . I'm now considering the Ford again however my thinking is that it's probably made by one of these other companies and may not fit any better after paying a couple of hundred more for it.
Just wondering, was there any indication on your roll up who actually made it for Ford?
Thanks for the input.

I haven't really looked. As it is -1 degrees out right now, I'll wait till it's a little warmer out.. which may be a week or two. LOL.

PS: Just looked online and this is it, exactly... not sure it says who makes it, but has much better detailed photos than the Ford Accessories site.

p.s. I ordered the tri-fold hard cover from Ford. They installed it at the factory. I believe it’s made by BakFlip. I’ve been very happy with it & it’s under warranty with the truck.

I did a self install on the Access Lorado inside the rails soft rollup. It works well for me. The only wetting that occurs during a heavy rain is at the tailgate and that's likely only because I elected to not install the supplied tailgate seal.

After trying - and returning both the Gator and American tri-fold soft covers I went to a dealer (Panda Vans near Kokomo, IN) and ordered and Extang Trifecta 2.0. It arrived and was installed today and fits perfectly. Wish I would have started there instead of trying to save a dime and ordering those on my own. The Trifecta has a lifetime warranty on the frame and fabric and, as I said, fits like it should which I cannot say for the other two that I tried.
So, if you're in the market for a soft tri-fold for your Ranger I would recommend the Extang.

Anyone reading this post should run as fast as they can from Gator Covers! They will send you garbage with missing parts and refuse returns.

I have a Gator SFX tri-fold cover and agree that it is just a tad short maybe by a 1/2-3/4". It took some fiddling but I managed to find the sweet spot to get it installed where it doesn't leak and it's been on the truck for almost year now with no issues. So while not perfect, it is one of the cheapest options out there but serves its purpose well.

Same. One of the six clamps will fall off at random and I'm pretty sure both sides are bowed as it doesn't match up completely flat with my bedside but at the time I didn't have the extra $800 to drop on the cover I wanted so this has worked fine. I have a slight amount of water that enters around the bulkhead and it's not impossible that I didn't mount correctly but it has yet to be an actual issue. For $300, I'd buy it again if I were on a budget.
