Somehow the lights must have been left on or something, like nothing happened when i turned the key. Jumped it with my little jump box and started right up. I let it run and charge for an hour and works good except... start the truck and it says zero miles to out of fuel, the low fuel light stays on all the time. The blinker sound is like the sound with the key in the ignition when you open the door with the truck turned off (like leaving the keys in the ignition and walking away) Tthe coffee cup light comes on intermittently and says to pull over to rest. How do I reset this? And no i dont have a forescan. I tried resetting the BMS ( ign on, 5 flashes of high beam, 3 taps of the brake pedal. Did the factory rest of the radio just in case. Sould I unhook the battery for 10 minutes just incase something is lached in the computer? Thanks

I would drive it and see if the fuel mileage calculation corrects itself. The tinny sounding blinker is what happens when the battery has a low charge. You shouldn't reset the BMS unless you actually replace the battery. Place a charger on the battery and then test the battery. I believe most of your problems are due to a low battery charge. Running it for an hour isn't enough time to recharge the battery after going dead.

We drove it over 3 1/2 hrs last night (Baltimore Maryland to Binghamton NY and no difference. The low battery charge screen hasn't come on the display. Fuel mileage appears correct, the tank just got filled this am.

Try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes and see if that helps. If not, have the battery tested.

Pull Fuse #13 (BCM) Fuse Panel for 5-Minutees - This is for the IPC, I have a hunch there is a fault locked into that module and it also may not have powered down via Can Bus Messaging when you shut the truck off - draining the battery.
Note: The IPC provides the power to the Fuel Level Sensor (Tank) you may have an issue with the fuel level sensor but trying a IPC reset may help recover the indication.

Yep these trucks can be tricky, a couple of months ago came home after being overseas for about 2 months. Went to start Ranger, button on key wouldn't unlock the door. Great I thought, flat battery. Tried the spare key, great, flat battery in the CAR then.

Well I'm going to have to open it up to check and charge the battery anyway so used the real key to open the door, so far so good, thought well while I'm in here I'll try it to see just how flat the battery is. No interior lights nothing, but tried to start it anyway.
Car fired up OK, albeit somewhat reluctantly, but it it doesn't take much battery loss to make it hard to start a diesel, between the glow plug current draw, and high compression, so, shut it down again, and went to retrieve my battery charger from the shed. When I came back tried the key button again and everything works perfectly?
So I topped up the battery anyway, and can only assume that whilst I was away the computer decided to shut down all the electronics to stop the battery dropping past the point where it could not start the car ie some "deep sleep" mode.

That is likely what happened. Our NA Rangers go into sleep mode after 14 days of non-use.
