I ordered a matching tire/wheel to use as my spare and mix in the rotation. In doing so I decided that I do not want it under the truck. I found the road master hitch mount carrier that should work since it it a universal solution and not as expensive as some of the over-landing and off road options. The dilemma that I am running into with it is that I will I loose my backup camera (not the end of the world, but would like to move it if possible). I found the Rostra site below that has relocation kits, but nothing for the ranger. I am hoping that one of these will be compatible. If anyone can confirm or deny that any of these would work I would appreciate that.

I just happen to have a picture from when I painted my badge. Looks like 5 or 6 pins

Thank you! I wish I would have taking a picture when I had mine off. Trying to avoid taking it off again, especially the way it's raining today.

No problem. To me it looks like the 11-16 super duty kit is a match. You could look up part numbers for both trucks and see if they use the same camera

I’ve seen some vehicles (maybe Jeeps) that have a third brake light on the spare tire mount that extends like a periscope above the tire. Something like that might provide a good mounting spot for the camera.

Looks like this should be the correct harness connector.

That was going to be my suggestion between the camera part numbers.

Coming from a person who has done this on two vehicles, are you sure you are prepared for daily use?

I did this on an old work truck hitch, and it rotated down to the side to open the tailgate. I also added a swing carrier to my XJ and it opened to the side so the liftgate would open. I got extremely tired of it - to the point I would go through the back doors of the XJ to avoid opening the lift gate and tossing things in the truck rather than move the tire down. It eventually went back under the truck and i just washed the rim to keep it clean.

Not having to use the bed constantly may make it work a little better for me. I concerned about the expensive wheel getting messed up under the truck. I was going to put a cover over it, but read a lot where that sounded like a bad idea. I figured I would give this a shot and see how I like it. Right now my primary function for the bed is to haul my groceries which is between once a week to every other week. I certainly understand your frustration, I probably wouldn't be going this route if I used the bed daily.

Why not mount the tire standing high behind the drivers side in the bed, mount a bed extender frame to go grocery getting?

Why not just mount the spare in the bed then?

You can use this, it plugs into the factor harness. I have it, but haven't installed, will probably get to it sometime this week. Another member already installed it on his and it works great.
