I hate the auto S/S feature on this truck. I have a lariat and I can go into the vehicle settings on the gauge cluster and turn it off. There is also the physical button by the gear shift I can press. My issue is that the setting in the gauge cluster doesn't matter. I routinely set that to off and I will see my engine stop at a light or something only 5 minutes later. Every stop is a bit of a mystery as sometimes the engine stops and sometimes it doesn't. The A with a circle around it on the dash to show if the feature is on or off will alternate as well. If I press the physical button it keeps the auto S/S off every time, but I have to do that every time I turn the car on. Am I missing something or is this a bug? Why doesn't the electronic setting stay in place?

It will default back to "on" whenever you restart the vehicle. I don't believe there is anyway to turn it off permanently in the regular vehicle settings. Get used to hitting the on/off button, putting it in Tow mode, or put a cheap night lite in the plug in the back seat. Or Forscan?

The setting you are changing in the cluster is NOT for the Auto-Stop/Start. It is to disable the auto shutoff at whatever the timeout interval is if the vehicle is left idling. Ways to disable the A/S/S is to press the button each time you start the vehicle, disable it permanently in Forscan, or buy an aftermarket product that will remember the last setting of the A/S/S.

My A/S/S never activates and turns the engine off unless I mash down the brake pedal.
If I roll up to a light that is about to turn green, just apply enough brake pressure to keep you from creeping forward and the A/S/S will not turn the engine off.

If the stop light ahead of me has just turned red and it looks like I'll be sitting there for a couple minutes, I push harder on the brake pedal and the engine turns off.

I've done a dozen changes thru Forscan but turning off the A/S/S wasn't one that I deemed necessary.
I like The A/S/S if I have to go to Phoenix or Prescott, lots more stoplights there than where I live.
And a nightlight is not something I want sticking out of the 110v outlet with my 70 lb. bird dog moving around back there.
