... The days of leaving your windows in your house open all night and your vehicle parked outside are a thing of the past in most places today. :(
I grew up in rural Nova Scotia, and that was never a thing. There wasn't a lot of crime there while I was growing up, but leaving things unlocked was not a thing.

I grew up in rural Nova Scotia, and that was never a thing. There wasn't a lot of crime there while I was growing up, but leaving things unlocked was not a thing.

We always locked the doors but always left all the windows open all night to cool the house off. Back then we didn't have ac and having a brick house it would really hold the heat in so it was the only way to cool it off. Then we got a window ac in my parents room and we'd sleep on the floor on really hot nights until years later when we finally got central air.

I use to do this on my last house back east too but that was in a small town (about 8,000 pop.) out in the country and about 12 years ago. Now we only leave the master bed/bath windows open at night because they're both behind the wall/fence in the back yard.
