Yep, just the nature of a direct injection engine. The soot in the muffler is cleaned out by the condensation in the muffler when you start the engine. There's a little 'weep" hole in the muffler to let the condensation out. Nothing to worry about.

HA! I put a drip pan in the garage where I park just for this, catches a LOT of black gunky water, better than cleaning the floor all of the time. (hint, a large cookie sheet works well, just check with the spouse first :LOL: )
