The folks at RedlineGoods saw my install video for the parking brake boot, and wanted to know if I could help with a shift boot as well. I've poked around a little in my truck, and read what I can in the shop manuals/etc... from what I can tell, the shift boot is part of the whole shift lever assembly, and can't easily be removed/swapped.

Has anyone had to remove their shift lever or boot yet? Any tips on how it's done?

Thanks!

I haven't taken the Ranger shifter apart yet. But most newer Fords with the same style shifter have a plastic frame inside the boot much like the hand brake boot. A plastic pry tool is used to pry the base of the boot inward from the sides to unclip it. Then lift the boot up to get to the set screws on the front side of the shift knob.
