255/80 r17 is about as close as you can get to 33x10.5x17 in a metric size.This has been my debate for awhile... I decided to go with 255 for the increased height and lower weight over the 285.

It's only .4'' heigh difference, but the rolling resistance should be less on the 255. Plus, 3 lbs per tire is nothing to scoff at. Ask @Nopalito, I wrestled with this decision for a long, long time. I was trying to decide between 285/70r17, 255/80r17, 255/85r16 (more options), 285/75r17, 33x1250x17, and I even tried to find 33x1050x17 (I couldn't find anything in that size, sadly).
