I got the letter in the mail a couple weeks ago and scheduled the update at my Ford dealer - they did the update yesterday (told me it would be 4-5 hours... not sure if that was actual shop time or just based on their backlog of work that day). Also had them do "the works" oil change and tire rotation, etc. since it was due.
Prior to the update, I had to hard-reset my radio/Sync almost every day, sometimes multiple times a day. The only thing I noticed is if I locked my truck it would "shutdown" the Sync screen and would work fine the next time I started, but if I left it unlocked to just leave for a shorter time to run a quick errand or whatever, when I came back and restarted the truck, it was almost like the Sync screen was still just hanging and wouldn't do anything.
After the update, it seems to be working fine now... but I'm only 1 day in.
