Does anyone else have marks like this? It was there when I bought the truck and appears to be a build up of paint. It runs the whole length of the seem on the right side beneath the rear window:

Hi Tony,

This should have been cleaned up prior to shipping.....I am really disappointed in the Paint/body trim at the Assembly plant....They are supposed to do better than this poor performance on your Ranger.

It’s a bit of a bummer that’s it’s there but I’m learning to live with small things like this. I had troubles before with deep scratches in the glass that I couldn’t let go, long story short the dealer made a mess out of the paint removing and reinstalling and I ended up with a new truck after taking a $1,000 hit trading in ?. I appreciate your reply! Still love the truck and I’m glad it’s just cosmetic and not functional ?

I have a couple, maybe two or three, chips that I've noticed. I'm positive one was from when they installed my cap. I have a couple of scratches, people hitting my truck when they are in a parking lot. Nothing Ford can do about that. I f*cking hate people.
Agree, my first door dent was from a parking lot. I also notice paint chips, I even have a paint blemish on the hood and a fish eye on the front passenger door. Mine is a March 2019 build. Took me awhile to notice them because of the color.

Anyone else getting a lot of paint chips on their truck? It's not normal how many I am getting.
Yes, I got one when the driver door swung open and hit the vinyl siding on my house. I couldn't believe it... I immediately bought and installed an AVS bug guard for the hood, a can of Carnuba wax and all the polish accessories I figured I will need to keep the paint as protected as possible.

One nice hood chip already after ~6wks of ownership. Debating if I should go for clear bra on hood/bumper or bug deflector. The bug guard is obviously much cheaper, but reminds of the 80's. Can't say I'm real impressed with the paint. My Ridgeline went 3yrs without one chip.

I noticed an abnormally large amount of chips on my hood front too this weekend (I guess I should have been paying closer attention all along). I'm wondering about the pros and cons of the stick-on bug deflector vs the screw in type. Do any of you all have experience with the stick-on (WeatherTech or AVS) that would sway one way or the other?

Just looking at them both, I think I prefer the look of the low-profile of the stick-on, but am not interested in buying anything like that if it's not durable or will hurt the truck...

Thanks in advance for your experiences! I appreciate your wisdom...

In my area of the country they "Chip Seal" the road so there are a lot of looks rocks. I did the Xpel Clear Wrap on the front, Hood & Fenders. Also the rocker panels all the way around. Put it on a year ago and still looks great.

Just got a quote for $699 to do partial hood, full bumper and front fenders. It' tempting as I know the fenders will get sandblasted. Would cost extra to cover the rears ones. On the other hand, I was going to buy some mud flaps with the hopes those would protect against a lot of chip damage. We've had another vehicle filmed before. It definitely works, but seems to take a way a bit of post-wax shine to it.

Chris,
I installed the AVS Bugflector II because it is very popular with members on this forum and also has good online reviews. I especially liked it because you don't have to stick anything on the paint, but you remove 8 of the existing plastic fasteners under the hood that attach the rubber liner which protects the hood when it is closed. AVS includes the 8 replacement fasteners with the Bugflector II to attach where the original fasteners were removed. Very clean installation that keeps everything original and intact. It is solidly attached and really looks great. Haven't had any rocks or objects fly up yet since installation so can't say how well it will actually deflect. $53.80 at autoanytime.com. My post below also has some photos after installation.

Chris,
Not sure if I had the link below posted when you previously liked my post above, but will include it again just in case you didn't get to see what the Bugflector looked like after installed.

An update
I had my truck in for service and decided to show them the chips, service agreed that it was too numerous. Body shop took pics and sent in to Ford. My truck is getting the hood repainted courtesy of Ford. Pick it up today, 3/31...

I also had an excessive amount of chips on the hood, took it into Ford Dealer they took pictures, submitted it to Ford and Ford repainted my hood. You should try it, worse case is they could say no. How many miles? mine has 23000 and is a 2019..
